I'm definitely in for this. I can bring a Montrose (if nobody's committed to one) and something else.

Just catching up with the thread. I see that Montrose might already be in. I can dig out my last bottle of the 89 Palmer, instead.

Let's try pin down a date...please let me know which dates you can't do, and which are preferable. The options are Oct 17, 24, 31 and Nov 7, 14

We are also already slightly over the quota of 12, assuming everybody who indicated they have an interest is coming (though some are probables or possibles):

Blanquito - Dominique, Cantermerle or Rieussec
Chris B - Climens and Angelus
Pappa - Urziger 89/Cos/GM Champagne
Jim - Lynch-Bages
Tom and Gail ?
David G - Montrose
Jacques - Pichon Baron
Ramon - Palmer
stefan and Lucie ?
Jay?
David Wainwright - Tertre Toteboeuf - but can only make Nov 14
Ian - Lafite, LMHB

That is a total of 14 people listed, so anyone else who wants to join will need others to drop out. We probably won't have all 14 here - if it is not Nov 14 David W won't be able to come. So far we have 12-13 wines indicated - we are aiming for 18, which is 1.5 wines per person. It would be nice to have one or two more heavy hitters...I mean we would never hear the end of it with Lynch-Bages "wins"!

Blanqito, I have finished off my case of Cantemerle and it is a fine wine. If you want to win the hearts of the Burgundy lovers, then bring La Dominique. The nose is stunning. Better than the roasted fruit 1990.

Yes stefan...it has been over a week since my ultimatum post (4/17 - see above)), so can confirm it is indeed the 17th October.

In Graves I have only de Fieuzal and Olivier. Other possibilities are Cos, La Lagune, Ausone, Rausan Segla, Leoville Barton, Branaire.

I am contacting my NYC colleagues to see if I can make my visit there in mid October.

Thanks again, Ian, for taking the time to get this going. I checked our inventory and was a bit surprised to find that we have wines from more Bordeaux producers in 1989 than in '86.

Another Pessac-Leognan? What ever could you mean, Mssr. Comte? Despite admonitions to not classify vintages, I've never thought of '89 as a particularly good one in the region, despite the uber-performance of the Dillon estates. I imagine that Domaine de Chevalier and Pape-Clement are still showing well. It might be fun to taste the Olivier again, if only to put the final nail into the Speculator's extravagant rating of this wine, but I'd guess that the current $34 price at Hart Davis Hart is enough eulogy.

From the right bank, we could bring a couple from among La Conseillante (if Jacques is bringing the l'Evangile, I'd be thrilled to taste these two thoroughbreds one-on-one, but we're even more excited to finally meet jal and Jill!), La Fleur de Gay, La Fleur Petrus, Domaine de l'Eglise, Le Gay, or even Vieux Chateau Certan (if the BD can stand the pressure!)

I am still looking for the 1989 l'Evangile. I'm sure I have one left but the sucker is hiding somewhere. A match-up with the la Conseillante will be great; I loved the 1990 and am looking forward to trying the 1989, but you're right Tom, the real pleasure will be to finally meet you and Gail.

Do any of the '89s I mentioned strike anyone's fancy? Ian mentioned La Lagune, which Lucie and I like a lot, and I am happy to bring one (unless Jay comes and brings a bottle). What else? Unless we have too much wine, I'll bring the Olivier as a throw away extra to show up the Speculator, which, as Tom hints, is always fun, but what else (Cos, Barton, Ausone...)?

It is entirely up to you stefan...but all I would reiterate is that La lagune has your name all over it...an estate you have been singing the praises of for a long time...while it would be a thrill to try Ausone...and Leoville Barton is the kind of wine that should be included in every horizontal. So may be a couple out of those three? By way of reference last year we had 13 people and 19 wines. There wasn't a drop left over.
