I really loved the earth and relative austerity of the Cantemerle and Meyney. The Vrai Canon Bouche was delicious as well, better than the 2009. The '10 is a very serious wine. The quality of the Meyney was a revelation.
2009 Cantemerle: 92 points
2009 Meyney: 92 points
2010 Vrai Canon Bouche: 92 points

A great Thursday night! Glad to hear these performed so well Jim. I have only tried the 2009 Cantemerle and agree wholeheartedly with you on this one.

Indeed Bill, these wines really shined tonight.
I did not expect the Meyney to be that delicious.
The wines went down fast with steaks.
The Meyney is a real steak wine.

I need to go see you in Maine, and drink a 2009 Château Meyney with you.

In 2013, before the year end? or around Christmas? Why not, I'm looking for a different Christmas this year, as it as been the same old Thing For the last 20 years in my family.

I'll have a Bordeaux tomorrow night.

September 4th, I have a South Africa wines tasting.

I think Meyney is undervalued. I'm a big fan of the Meyney 2005. A traditional Bordeaux with grip and class.

I just ordered a case of 2009 Meyney. As I just said to DavidG, I really like its understatedness, its St.-Estepheness. It is Calon-Segur-like, earthy and austere but with a strong core of fruit. At $29, how can you go wrong? Order a six pack now!

Meyney or not Meyney, that is the question:
Whether 'tis Nobler in the mind to suffer
The Slings and Arrows of Howaniec goading,
Or to take Wine against a Sea of troubles,
And by opposing end them: to drink, to wait
No more; and by purchase, to say we end
The Heart-ache, and the thousand Natural shocks
That Flesh is heir to? 'Tis a consummation
Devoutly to be wished. To buy, to drink,
To sleep, perchance Hungover; Aye, there's the rub,
For in that hangover, what dreams may come,
When we have finished off that entire bottle,
Must give us pause.

In case anyone is wondering, 1982, 1986 and 1989 Meyney are all still doing fine (I have a few of these in reserve). If I remember correctly, 1961, 1962, 1966, 1970 and 1978 were also very good.

I thing that this enablement for Château Meyney lately, is comparable to the one for Miley Cyrus at the 2013 MTV...
