Jean-Nicolas...

Post by JimHow »

Can you remind me, what are the years of birth of your children?
When are we meeting in Quebec province for dinner with some fine northern Medocs?

Seriously, Simone 2008, Julien 2010 and Béatrice 2013.

If you want to come to Québec, Québec City could be ok, as there is one or two very good BYOW restaurants.

If not, Montréal is always a possibility.

Nic,

Whatever is easier for you with the family ties and I mean ties! We'll be finished skiing on Friday Feb 21st and usually spend the weekend in Quebec City on the way back to Ottawa. If it works with everyone it would work for us. If it would be easier for people to gather in Montreal we just have to agree on a weekend and we'll make it happen. Up until Christmas we're only committed weekend of Nov 16 and Dec 5. In New Year Jan 11-19 not free.

So Jim, what would you prefer: before Christmas or in February? Québec City or Montréal?

Superbowl weekend Feb 2 2014 so Feb 21/22 Fri /Sat good.

If we can agree on these dates I'll commit to our ski trip to le Massif again leading into this weekend. Our kids have backed out this year so I'm also OK with staying at Tremblant that week and skiing their rather than driving 5hrs plus to just past Quebec City and we could meet in Montreal before or after Christmas. I'm good either way.

It might be easier to just say lets make it happen in Quebec City Feb 21-23....done deal and we don't have to go back and forth for the next month to nail done a date. Nic can then start making arrangements with hopefully a BYOB or two. I'd be happy with that.

Nic and Jim,

I hate to push a point but I have to commit this week for the week of Feb 16-23 off. I'm happy to make a BWE event happen the weekend of Feb 21-23 in Quebec City but if I don't hear by the end of the week we'll have to come up with a different venue. Maybe Montreal before or after Christmas.

Danny and Jim, it is ok for me and the family, for the February 21th-22nd. Béatrice birthday is the February 21st, so she'll be 1 year old.

So it up to Jim, as he'll have to do the long drive. And thinking that we'll meet back a few weeks later in DC.

One dinner should be at La Girolle restaurant, a nice BYOW in Québec City. I'll check If there is other nice BYOW in Québec City, but I like the Café du Monde, very nice bistrot cuisine, but we can't bring our own wine there.

I just don't see how I'm going to be able to commit to that weekend at this point.
After the first of the year I have a double manslaughter trial, a murder trial, and two attempted murder trials scheduled.
Each of these cases will be a week or more.
I just won't know my schedule better until after the first of the year.
I really want to do it but I just can't commit to going up to Quebec to party for a weekend if I'm in the middle of a two week murder trial.

No problem Jim. Perfectly understand. I'll see how much Danielle wants to ski le Massif this year or head someplace closer without the family. I'll talk to her and we may still head that way (possibly meeting with Nic) and if it works great. If not we could always do Montreal another mutually agreeable weekend.

Jim, would it be easier for you before Christmas in Montreal? In November, a weekend like the 23rd? Or if you really want to go to Québec City? In Montreal, we can do one night BYOW restaurant and one night at Alex/Mélanie's place. In Québece City, one BYOW restaurant and one Buy You Wine There (BYWT) restaurant. In any cases, I'll be a bit picky, to make sure the kids are welcome, and the hotel to sleep not far away.

By the way, why in Maine, the preferred hobbies seem to be manslaugther or murder? Geez I thought it was a nice and quiet State...

No problem Jim. I've just confirmed the week off for Feb 16-23. Danielle loves Charlevoix too much and couldn't deprive her of her favourite place to ski/eat/drink so we'll be making the trek regardless. If we can make this work for Feb in QC then great. If not hopefully we can see you in Montreal again with a mutually agreeable date between now and Spring. Murder trials can't keep you going steady. I thought Lewiston was a quiet town in Maine where people left their doors unlocked etc. Maybe if they locked their doors....!

Let me know Nic if you want to meet us in Quebec City on our way back ( Feb 21-23) if Jim can't make it.
