T & Judd & whiskey^2 arrived early enough for dinner, so we had a vertical of our family “go to” wine with Coq au Vin.

1975 La Lagune. Light but pleasant nose. Cranberries and pencil lead in the mouth. Also TCA. But even stefanJr can tolerate the TCA for a few minutes.

1985 La Lagune. Also has pencil lead and cranberries, plus Brazosberries.. It is more concentrated than the ’75 and has a longer finish. The tannins are smooth and supportive. I am glad that this old friend has held up so well. stefan 91. Judd 92. Lucie 92. Irena 89. stefanJr 89.

1989 La Lagune. In this La-La, licorice and leather blends with the cranberries. The ’89 is even tasty on the tonsils. More concentrated than the ’85, the ’89 also has a long finish. s 92. I 90. L 93. sJr 89.

whiskey^2 is T & Judd's 2 year old son, Rye. His middle name is also a whiskey, hence my nickname for him (which his daddy hates, BTW). Unlike Shea, he is not much of a wine drinker yet.

Aha... Guess they don't appreciate your "wry" humor?

Actually, T likes the nickname, David, but I think she carries my genes.

Hold on a second, is T your daughter or D-I-L? I know you live in Texas but this is starting to sound a bit like Arkansas. :D

T is my daughter, David.

No scores on the '75 because it was corked, Michael.

Been enjoying your posts, as usual, Stefan. Glad you had a nice bottle of '85 La Lagune--the last one I had was quite nice but seemed to be fading. Your bottle shows that it still has the stuffing, if treated well, though. Now, I really would like to try that '89--you've certainly got me eager to seek that one out!

Merry Christmas,
Michael
