I'm going to uncork that Krug NV and drink it with my 89 year old father, something I really look forward to every year, I'll open the '04 Dom as well if my brothers and sister in law come by.

Happy New Year to our BD and all BWE members!

We are making dinner with friends. The evening will involve, at minimum, Champagne, misc. whites, Bordeaux, Rhone, port and a Sauterne. Should be an enjoyable evening.

After a few days of mostly beer, those of us who are not in bed sick (a decreasing population in stefanJr's household right now) will drink Eric Rodez and probably some still wines.

At 4pm at Robert Irvine's restaurant EAT! will pop a 1990 Krug and a Dom P. of roughly the same age. This is the last night they are
open so home before the crowds get there. Safe and sound with maybe a 2011 Savigny les Beaune from Ecard to sip. If David G
can find a typo in here I will save the corks for him. You have to have thick skin to post on this site. JM

NYE party tonight at the Napa Valley Country Club. Not sure what wine we might bring along, but it will likely need to be Napa.....probably a mag.

A couple nights ago we had a nice 90 CLG that was correct but not singing. We followed that with a 97 Beringer Chabot which more people liked than the Bordeaux. I disagreed with them.

Happy New Year to all. And apologies to JM and any others I may have offended over the past year with any misguided or misinterpreted attempts at humor. Believe me, they were all meant in good spirit. Even (especially) my goading of our beloved BD.

We're having an early dinner with close friends. They are serving the reds with the meal so those remain an unknown at this point. We have the Champagne and dessert wine duties. I will pop an '01 J Schram to start and an '01 SQN Mr. K Straw Man for dessert.

We're staying in tonight, will probably open something new world (Saxum, Rhys or Radio Coteau most likely) followed by a 2001 sauternes. Spent yesterday at our wine lockers pulling everything out and doing a complete reorg/inventory, feeling a lot of muscle soreness today... Christmas eve with friends we had a 2005 Canon La Gaffeliere and '01 Ridge Monte Bello that were both superb. Happy New Year everyone!

The Krug NV is on ice....

I've got my list of 37 resolutions for 2014, the BWE-related of which include #14 ("Bring BWE to new heights ") and #25 ("Drink some fine northern Medocs with Jean-Nicolas Maltais in Quebec province").

PS: Jim, I think that Krug might benefit from a few hours air before you start drinking. I don't believe in decanting Champagne but I think many of the better ones (especially recent releases) improve from being opened several hours in advance.

Thanks for the advice Chris I'll definitely give it some air.
