Mmmm this 2010 is 1996-like: Ripe but structured and balanced, good deep color, will age slowly and well, not in a 1986 kind of way, but in the character of that ripe, structured Cabernet year of 1996.

Swirling the 2009 now. Initial observation is that the bouquet of the 2010 is just a bit more forthcoming, at least early on after popping and pouring.

This 2009 is damned nice as well.
Not "structured." Smooth.
Both are Jim How kind of wines.
Cantemerle may just now be my favorite wine.
I just got a couple mags of the 2010 on sale at Zachys at $85 per bottle.
I'm definitely getting a case each of the 2009 and 2010.

I thin I've asked this question before: Shat other wines from that neighborhood are in the mld of Cantemerle, La Lagune, etc.?

Very good question Jon.
Both wines are 13% and not Parkerized, so that may help to keep prices down.
These wines are just really beautiful.
I am seriously thinking of buying TWO cases of each of the 2009 and 2010.
This property just really hits the sweet spot for me.

The 2009 goes for $39 at MacArthur's and the 2010 is $42 at PJs.

Loved both of these wines.
It is fascinating how they just performed to expectations in light of their respective vintages:
The 2009 was round, no hard edges, elegant, 13% in a 14.5% vintage. Margaux-like. Very balanced. Lovely. 93 points.
The 2010 was just a bit more rugged, structured, 1996-like, more perfume, some hard edges but in a good way, just a little more hair on the chest. I'll go with HWSRN's 94+.
Both of them were outstanding. Great "mouth-feel." Easy drinking claret now and for 25+ years.
Oh yeah. Not everyone will like this style, although Parker evidently liked them, even though they were anti-Parkerized wines. Excellent-to-outstanding clarets, and when you factor in price, both were solidly "outstanding."

You need some 2010s David...
I could pick you up a few bottles at $42 next time I get to PJs, although I doubt I'll get there before the convention.
Your better bet might be to get a couple of these 2010 mags on sale at $85 each at Zachy's....

I've been a long time defender of Cantemerle, who did not sold his soul yet to concentration/oak/high scores. I think I had something to do with the 2005 being one of BWE wine of the year.

So I'll continue to influence our BD in the future...

Earlier, fellow BWers' enablement made me get half a case each of 2009 regular bottles and 2010 splits. Last weekend, there was a sale with 15% off a our local chicago store. Couldn't resist half a case of 2010 regular bottles @$34 each...

Alongside, there was a lone bottle of 08 Poyfere@56. So grabbed that too...

Pennsylvania, Maine, and New Hampshire all claim to be the birthplace of the Whoopie pie. In 2011, the Maine State Legislature considered naming the whoopie pie the official state pie. The proposal received bipartisan support. L.D. 71, officially known as "An Act to Designate the Whoopie Pie as the State Dessert", read "The whoopie pie, a baked good made of two chocolate cakes with a creamy frosting between them, is the official state dessert".[7] The Pennsylvania Dutch Convention & Visitors Bureau[8] and other observers in Lancaster County, PA, note that the whoopie pie comes from the area's Amish and Pennsylvania German culture – origins that are unlikely to leave an official paper trail – and has been handed down through generations. Most likely, Amish groups that migrated to Maine brought the treat to the people of Maine[citation needed]. Mainers assert that Labadie's in Lewiston, Maine has been making the confectionery since 1925.[10] The now-defunct Berwick Cake Company of Roxbury, Massachusetts had been making the "Whoopee Pie" since 1931 and it is also claimed that the whoopie pie originated there in Massachusetts and spread both north and south. It appears though that German immigrants brought the predecessor of the Whoopie Pie to communities throughout the northeast.

Emil, I determined that the origin of the whoopie pie is right here in the "Little Canada" section of Lewiston, at Labadie's Bakery on Lincoln Street.
That bakery has been in existence since 1925.

I can do something special, but no pants down (I never did that, but thank you Photoshop!) : i can be punk (Sid Vicious way) with a Whoopie pie and a glass of a nice red Bordeaux...

Can do anything for BWE glory...

Tried the 2010 the other day and was quite impressed, particularly for the price. Doubt this will ever completely shut down, and it should be drinking wonderfully by 6-8 years from now and maintain its form nicely for 20-25 years. Just cleaned out PJ's and look forward to enjoying this beauty over the years. Thanks for everyone's enablement...

A case of the 2010 is coming to my cellar as well.

I don't know why but the 2010 is 2$ cheaper than the 2008... The 2010 is 50$ here, not bad.
