Let's see how this perennial BWE favorite did in 2010.

First sip...
Oh yeah.... I'm going to be very surprised if this is not a Jim How kind o wine.
Tannic and mouth-filling. Spartan.

You know, with a wine like this you don't have to deal with all the bullshit.
It's just good solid wine.
None of this finagled BS.
It's 13.5%, but that's because of the vintage, not because it was finessed or altered in any way.
They grew the grapes and harvested them and put the juice in barrels and then bottled it.
No nonsense.
Not trying to be something they're not.
This is a big bad Sociando that will age very slowly over 30 years.
It is tannic.
But the tannins are 1996 tannins, ripe and sweet.
I'll get a case. Only $43.97 at PJs, less than the 2009.

This wine will age for a long time, but if I buy a case I'll probably open it in about ten years.
It is better than the 2009.
92 points.

I did not report with détail, but I found that wine excellent too. Line below is from one of my other post.

By the way, the 2010 Sociando Mallet is great too...

But probably better than drinking them at 5 or 6 years of age. Maybe they're still showing their baby fat. Does Sociando even have a baby fat?

Sociando will put hair on your chest.
It's a man's man of a wine.
You have to be tough to drink young Sociando, it is for someone from Maine, where we have to rough it 9 months out of the year. Not sure it is a "Maryland" wine....

Surely it's a wine for Newfoundlanders, where we rough it for 12 months of the year! Not like those sissies in Quebec, who only have to rough it 11 months a year!

So Jim, for those interested in the 2010 vintage, from the northern Medoc we need to get Sociando, and from the southern Medoc, Cantemerle. What of the middle? HWSRN says the '10 Clerc Milon is one of the finest he's ever tasted! True??

I'm not sure Clerc Milon fits into that picture because of QPR issues, Bacchus, that wine is going for like 3 times the price of Sociando and Cantemerle. Sadly I'm not sure there are equivalent QPRs from Pauillac/St. Julien.

Yeah, from what little I've had so far, 2010 looks like the year.

Nope. No 2010s. Not gonna do it. Cellar full of wine. I'm too old. Wine's too young. Wouldn't be prudent. Rather jump out of a plane on my birthday.

Mmmmm... What a selection of 2010s at PJs, MacArthurs, Zachy's etc.
And some beautiful wines in that $40ish price range.... Very reasonable.
Mmmmmm....
Who wouldn't want some of these in their cellars sitting tight as they advance into their retirement years....
Mmmmm....
2010.... Seems like the real deal....
Stunning deep colors.... Sweet tannins... Reminds me of 1996.... Except better....
If that's possible....
Mmmmm.

Hee hee hee, sorry about that Nic! But just so you know what I'm talking about, here's the kind of snow we get in Newfoundland:

Maybe Clerc Milon is bargain up here by Canadian standards; only twice the price of Sociando. On the other hand, you don't want to know what Sociando costs up here! :(

nice review of the Sociando....i remember there was enabling among members for the 1996 Sociando at $30 years ago....so given the cost of inflation, $40 is pretty darn reasonable for the 2010.

would love to see current notes of the Lafon Rochet, Gloria, Branaire Ducru, La Lagune and Beychevelle....

Wow, I guess that is "gulf effect" snow? Or is that strictly from the noreasters, Bacchus?
