Sounds Like A Great Time

While everyone was enjoying a cornucopia of delectible wines I was suffering being educated in Boca. Could be worse things in life but nice to see everyone had a great time.
Hilite of the week was having our own little BWE offline event Friday after completion of the CME with Kathy and Stuart in Delray Beach for dinner. Happy to report both are very alive and well also disappointed they missed the festivities in DC. We tried our best to have our own commemerative dinner starting with 2005 Cristal Rose. Light bodied, smmooth with strawberry background and a nice way to get dinner underway.
Two heavy hitters with dinner and it was an uncontested first round knockout with the 82 Latour devastating the 82 Mouton. The Mouton was just not up to the challenge on this evenning when in the past I believe Mouton has certainly gone toe to toe if not taking down the Latour. Maybe just bottle variation.
On this evening Latour was open for business and reminded me of the dark knight showing all black fruits...cherry,blackberry,plums etc etc with nice charred tarry notes. Smooth and incredible length. A nose you could drown in.
Mouton was muted with subtle lighter fruits on the nose but closed by comparison. Did not show the depth or length that I expect from this usually stellar wine. Probably on its own it would have shown better but certainly on this night it was struck down by a far superior wine.
Delicious meal at 32 East and would highly recommend if you are in the area. BWE companions as always were great with fun conversation about wine occasionally and everything else we could come up with , but as always the night ended too soon.
Thanks to Kathy & Stuart for making our last night in South Florida special and more thanks to BWE for making these introductions to new lasting friendships possible. To me this board has been more about the people we have met that the wine consumed.
