Second nightb at Alex

Post by Nicklasss »

The 2004 Perrier-jouet Belle Époque is sweet, full of honey and yellow fruits. Drinking nicely, but missing acidity.

More alter.

It doesn't seem to satisfy regarding the prestige cuvee level. Perhaps the vintage plays a part.

I agree. Sometimes the flashy bottle is the best part.

But on other occasions, in a reverse snobbery way, some think the wine can never be as good as the beautiful enameled label.

In general, the dosage is on the high side (or seems to be), especially in "soft" years such as "99 and '00. But in high acidity vintages, such as '96 and '02, PJ Fleur is a seriously good champagne to drink on the young side.

The Rose is very good but not remotely worth the high tariff.
