Dark ruby in color with slight bricking. As I tasted this wine over the course of three days I kept saying, “this is 70’s Bordeaux”. Ripe red fruits, mineral laden mid-palate and a clean finish. Not a hint of vegetal aromas or flavors; lingers nicely and in no danger of fading. Drink after a decant or hold. Beautiful wine for those who like the old style Bordeaux.

Nice note. I've had mixed results with Chinons, occasionally finding them a little too vegetal for my taste, though I do find a bit of green can add an appealing complexity.

2003 was a torrid year so there were no issues with getting the Cab Franc ripe. People worried instead about over-ripeness and whether the wines would hold up and age well. Sure sounds like that one did!
