CT notes are good. HDH has it for $160 says WS. I opened a bottle of this producer's value priced 2008 Bodega Numanthia Termes Toro Termes last night. Nice wine but needs more time. For $18, an excellent QPR

Jim,

Great wine but don't see the value at that price. Numanthia a perennial winner by comparison at around $20.

Jim,

The 2010: 7/5/2014 - 94 Points
That Termanthia was an enormous fruit bomb as I expected - and wanted, to do battle with the short ribs. The difference is there is enough stuffing, dry extract, tannin and acidity to balance it. Great stuff if you're not looking for finesse or subtlety. The bottle looked and felt like a magnum or a grenade, huge amount of glass, feels like 8 pounds or so.

The 2006: 11/19/2011 - 94 Points
I just cannot resist this massive fruit bomb in the torpedo sized bottle. A swirling mass of mixed dark berries, toast and cassis. It's wonderful not just because of the intensity of the fruit but because it has that unique character of earth and minerals behind it. An extreme contrast to the traditional style of Rioja Jorge brought (Ygay and one other, both '95s). I understand the criticism that all sense of place is obliterated, but it just tastes so damn good, I don't care.

(Your price is about right.)

Mmmmm.
What the heck, I'll get one bottle.
I can still taste that 2004 that Rick Julien brought to a DC convention a few years back!

Jim - not that I was there, but since I bought 2 cases of the 2004 Numanthia Toro......I remember the postings at that time. It was, I believe, not the Numanthia Termanthia, which is the more expensive big brother, but the Numanthia (Toro), the mid level wine. The 2004 Toro received a Wine Advocate (Jay Miller) review of 97, and was about a $50 wine at the time.

Wine Advocate's (Neil Martin) review of the 2006 Termanthia is a 93, and the Toro is a 94+.

Numanthia was sold just prior to the 2006 vintage to Moet-Hennessey.
