Is this champagne always this good?
It was absolutely beautiful.
What does this normally go for?
It seemed like a bargain to me at $70-something but the prices are always so high nowadays in NH, so I'm sure I overpaid.

Yes it is always "this good".
I'm assuming you bought the vintage, and 70 is about right.
The Sir Winston is usually twice that.
The white foil/white label can be found for 35 to 40.
It is and will always be our house champagne.

Oh yeah, here's a note from about 2 months back:

2002 Pol Roger Champagne Extra Cuvée de Reserve. With some cheeses and spreads, we started out with this really tremendous bottle of Pol Roger, which right out of the gate features spry and tingly aromas of dark-toasted bread, ginger, clay, lemon peel, bruised apple and cherry pit that have great presence but also a nice sense of finery. It’s fun and vivacious on the tongue, with excellent energy and deep-down power allied to airy, toasty top notes. It’s dark-fruited, generous and long—drinking great now but with plenty of years ahead.

'02 Pol Roger is indeed great. I am kicking myself for buying only one case when it was $50. Fortunately, I also bought the '02 Blanc de Blanc, which is outstanding; even better than the Brut for my taste.

How long would I expect a vintage like 2002 Pol Roger to age?

The '02 P-R will develop for another 10 years at least. For my taste, the Blanc de Blanc will surely improve for 10 years while the Brut should be drunk up during this period. Your personal preference might be different, but there is no worry about these wines falling apart in the next decade.

Yes to all of the above positive comments. It's running about $100 in DC, $120 for the Blanc de Blancs, so you got a decent price IMO. I'm waiting for the 2002 Sir Winston to come out, but fear it will be well north of $200 based on Premier Cru's pre-arrival offering at $199.99. I've gotten too old and impatient to continue ordering from them.
