I've been lucky enough to enjoy a few good wines lately.
On Wednesday, we had a 98 Palmer and a 98 L'Evangile (the latter was better, deeper, more velvety, and younger on this occasion).
Today, we had two wines at lunch that showed rather well (2011 Ch. Grandmaison, white Pessac-Léognan and 2009 Ch. Haut-Macô, Côtes de Bourg), but the star was 2000 Ch. d'Aiguilhe, Côtes de Castillon. This was still quite youthful in color, with a classic bouquet and an attractive, rich flavour combining the roundness and sensuality one hopes for in a good Merlot with assertive tannin that suited it very well. The cork was tighter than tight, which may explain the wine's fine showing - 14 years is pretty long for a Castillon.D'Aiguilhe has a huge production. Congratulations for such a good showing.
All the best,
Alex R.
2000 Château d'Aiguilhe, Côtes de Castillon

That is interesting. I like D'Aiguilhe, but found that it got less charming with age. Wish I had held back a bottle or two of 2000.
