That’s a bummer...

I don’t know how 19 Siran compares with 16 Siran, but one of my friends in Boston area just sent a picture of 19 Siran at their local Costco for $26.99. FWIW, Sucker rated the 19 Siran 94 points...

I bought some 2016 Siran @ $39 pre-arrival from Saratoga Wine Exchange. Hope it’s the right stuff when it gets here in the spring.

Arv, $25 for the 2019 Siran is a great price

Agreed on both counts David.
2016 Siran is excellent.
And at that price the 2019 is a no brainer, it’s one of those buy a case without even tasting it deals for me.

To my surprise, I just won 3 x 2018 Chevillon Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru Les Pruliers. I thought for sure I get sniped at $89.83/each all-in. Not sure what I’ve heard about 2018 red burgs, but the critics (that I listen to) all like this particular wine:
https://m.klwines.com/Auction/BidDetail/1651324

However, I DID get sniped at the same time on a 6 bottle lot of the William “Stefan” Johnson Wine of the Year! Who dunnit?! Someone whose first name begins with a “W”, coincidence?

Not I, Patrick. It has been months since I looked at auctions. Also, I generally don't bid against a P there before checking with you.

Haha, good to know! All kidding aside, it would have been tres apropos for you to win a lot of the William “Stefan” Johnson Wine of the Year. I liked thinking it might have been you.

By the way, the next few weeks are gonna be my last on KL auction, unless they change their shipping policy. Part of the reason I’m going to San Francisco in January is to pick up my accumulated vino there, and that’s it, no mas. I can’t justify an 8 hour drive to new Mexico to buy some more wine I don’t need!

Jesus, you drive 8 hours to pick up that wine? Nuts. Yeah I'd stop if I were you too. Especially with the higher fees now.

Well, I was going to drive to Santa Fe to meet a KL shipment. One local wino was going to carpool with me and we were going to meet another formally local wino there to make a night of it with dinner and wine, etc. All three of us had vino coming from KL, could have been fun (as a one-off). But FedEx completely botched the delivery and the wine ended being held up in Utah for 3 days after taking 3 days just to get out of Northern California.

I called and complained, and despite KL’s lack of a license to ship to Colorado, FedEx agreed to let me to pick it up in Denver the following week at transit station 45 minutes out into the prairie, so our one pilgrimage to Santa Fe never happened. I took it as a sign, and when I saw cheap tickets to San Francisco, scheduled this trip, and that’s it! No mas!

A literal “back up the truck” moment in your future?

I remember shipping to WV or VA back when no one could ship to MD. It was a felony and wineries/shippers could lose their license. Several of us shared a UPS box, coordinated shipping dates, and rotated pickup duties during shipping season. But that was only 60-70 miles each way. Lots of celebrations when that law got changed.

This ship-to-MD story makes me feel better. It’s good to have company in one’s compulsions.

$126.50 including commission (but not sales tax). Pretty pricey but the recent CT notes are nearly all stellar (except for Jeff Leve's so-so note) and the bottle condition looks immaculate as you can see.

Dare you be so beautiful Ian! Bravo! well done indeed.
2010 + Pichon Lalande should be a very interesting crossroads for that estate, and Bordeaux in general, as evidenced by multiple comments here, most recently from Nicola with his 2009/2010 Calon Segur comparison, and other experiences with 2010, like the wild and wonderful 2010 Troplong Mondot that Jacques, Jill, and I had out on my back deck two summers ago....

2016 Chauvin at Costco. For low $40s. Strictly an impulse buy. If I see any 2016 I buy it. In this case I bought a lone bottle to taste after my January wine fast. Anyone know anything about it?
