4 2016 St Innocent Justice @ $120 (gulp)

This library wine is not for sale, but Mark agreed to sell me some. The 2014 Justice is available on the website for $120.

EDIT: Turns out that I get 15% off on library wines because I am a wine club member.

6 each of 2019 Ch Langoa Barton and La Lagune.
Really like this vintage especially the left bank.
24 bottles of Justin Girardin 2019 and 2020 Santenay, SLB and Chassagne Montrachet 1ers Crus reds
6 each 2018 Muga Rioja Riserva and 2019 Condado de Haza Crianza Ribera de Deuro, two Spanish wines I’ve liked for some years.
Various NV Champagnes - largely whatever is going on sale in Singapore- Lanson, de Villandry 1er Cru, Cattier Brut Icone. The Villandry is a negociant label I’d never seen anywhere else but it’s actually pretty good.
At Christmas, I stocked up on a few Aust favourites - 2016 Wynns Black label CS and old vine Shiraz, 2018 Devils Lair CS and 2018 Cape Mentelle Chardonnay. Also bought a few D’arenberg reds from McLaren Vale largely keep visitors happy who like richer and sweeter styles (and are not put off by 15% alcohol).

Won’t mention prices as they are much more expensive here in Singapore.
When I first got here, a few locals told me that the Govt does not want people to drink much so it taxes it. My response was that the Govt Loves people drinking as they make billions from it. Morality seems to go out the window when revenue is affected.

Cheers
Mark

6 x 170 Krug @ $133*
10 x 2019 Giscours @ $54
3 x 2019 Beau-Sejour Becot @ $62

*I'm assuming it's 170, I haven't picked it up, Gerry, either way, 169 or 170 this is a great deal.

Jim
That is a great deal on Krug - it is way more here. I mean twice as much.
As for Giscours, I got some on EP for SGD 90 odd and it’s now at least SGD 105-110 retail, or USD80-85. The BB is at least USD100. Again, the Govt is smiling.

Yeah, that Krug MV price is a lot cheaper and a significant discount to pretty much anywhere else within the country. Even the wholesale costs in NJ are $31.09 more per btl on a case purchase.

Zachys is running a $100 off $500 purchase when using coupon code ‘BORDEAUX100‘ on prearrival Bdx so I pulled the trigger on a 6pack of the 2020 Gruaud Larose which came down to $76.32/per after discount + tax.

They don't ship, Stefan, it was indeed the 170th Krug, the sale ends today but there should be a European wine or Champagne wine sale at some point, I'll try to get more for you guys.

First time in the Auction market for awhile.

Splurged on a bunch of stuff, some seem solid, some more risky:

93 Blanc de Lynch Bages
81 Haut de Smith
99 Esprit de Chevalier
2012 Oratoire de Chasse Spleen
2012 Relais de Dufort Vivens
95 Pagodes de Cos
75 Batailley
75 La Violette
75 Talbot
7? Chateau Margaux (unknown year)
66 Couvent de Jacobins x 2
00 Chateau de Ferrand magnum x6
85 Beau Sejour Becot
88 Sociando Mallet
94 Poujeaux
01 Bouscaut
Plus a couple unknown Bordeaux

average around 27 Euros a bottle, 50 for the magnums.

Hi Joel. Had the 1985 GPL two times with Jim, and while a very good Pauillac, this is fully ready. I would recommend to open these bottles sooner than later.

Yes, how long ago was it that we had that in Nashville, Nicola?
It was nice at the beginning of dinner but fell off dramatically by the end, at least the bottle we had.

Thanks Nic, I'll certainly keep that in mind. I got them for a great price so they're worth the risk. Some recent reviews on CT say it's still alive and kicking so I'll hope for the best. I'll definitely take one for the team before risking a dead wine with an BWEers though :)

Great idea, Chris. I've been loading up.

Let's plan that one ahead so other BWEers can come in from out of town if they want. Maybe we do a mini BWE convention in the fall since we've been on that schedule the last few years. Especially for all the people that aren't making it to London.

At long last, I have succumbed to the hype to the tune of 6 * 2019 Branaire-Ducru ($50) and 4 * 2019 Domaine de Chevalier Rouge ($70).

I blame/credit you all.

Good for you, young whipper snapper! I intend to buy a few more myself, the number depending on how much storage I can spare in Oregon for wine that is not ready to drink.

6 x 2020 Montrose
3 x 2020 Montrose

Hopefully I might live long enough to drink the latter for free

Any thoughts on whether I should pull the trigger on 12x375 Ch. D’Issan at £250 ex-taxes?

The method in my madness is idea that if NM is barking up the right tree re the 2020 Montrose it will over time appreciate in value sufficiently so that the profits from selling the six pack will enable me to drink the three pack for free.

I was quite struck when NM said: “This is far more detailed than either the 2019 or 2018, a symmetrical Montrose with unerring detail and mineralité, its silky texture belying the power underneath. This is unequivocally a brilliant wine and a benchmark in recent years.”

I think Jim's question is that there must be a typo... otherwise that would be 9 x 2020 Montrose
Best
