Any Bourgogne lover should try a wine of that estate minimum once.
Agreed. Gorgeous wines. The 2010 Santenots is evolving beautifully. Jon Gilman just discovered the little vineyard gem in Pommard, Les Saucilles

Haven’t had this one, but I love old Madeira. Oldest bottle is 1814…

2 bottles of the 2010 Santenots. Looking forward to trying. I forgot about this after you mentioned it a while back.

Lol. Sure, go ahead and blame me.
It's amazing that a 1er cru Monopole is the cheapest wine in Mugniers's lineup. About a quarter of the price of his Chambolle village. Enjoy JC

Agree and that’s just the way it goes nowadays but they did have an empty spot price tag of $189 for the Chambolle in the glass case but someone had already beat me to it. Bottle King tends to split up the allocated items amongst multiple stores so that is why you end up finding a btl or 2 or 3 and not full 6packs in any one location for the most part.

$189 for the Mugnier Chambolle is about $300 less than what it sells for in the US if you can find it.

I realize but I also don’t think we should take average wine searcher listed retail prices for allocated items as gospel when there simply is not that much to go around (ie demand far exceeds supply). $189 is a great price for the best in class village Chambolle from Mugnier and it is also in line with the current wholesale costs, $500+ is not. There is a wide range of pricing when it comes to wines of this ilk (Raveneau, Rayas etc) and everyone has to draw their own line in the sand and decide what is worth it and what is not.

Tried this recently and really enjoyed it so glad to have picked up some more. Not overly happy with the price paid but needs must.

I finally took the wine.com plunge, and with coupons and 30% rewards through Capital One shopping, I grabbed the following:

4 x 2019 Ferriere
4 x 2020 Ridge Geyserville
2 x 2019 Giscours

All for around $28 each (plus tax and there $59/year flat shipping deal) once everything was stacked.

1x 2014 Pontet Canet @ $85
1x 2014 Lynch Bages @ $127
2x 2019 Brane Cantenac @ $59
1x 2019 Bel-Air Cuvee Jean Gabriel (Lussac St Emilion) @ $30. The wine manager at TW called this his poor man's La Fleur Petrus. I'll get back to you on that...

I've doubled down on Wine.com, for a running tally of:
-4 x 2019 DDC rouge (~$45 all-in, including coupons and 30% back towards gift cards)
-4 x 2019 Ferriere (~$28 all-in)
-4 x 2020 Ridge Geyserville (~$28 all-in)
-4 x 2019 Giscours (~$32 all-in)
-1 x 2012 Taittinger Comtes de Champage (~$140 all-in)
-2 x 2014 Bollinger Grande Annee (~$108 all-in)
-plus a few misc whites

I show the prices I paid not to gloat, but highlight for the savvy and hard-working shopper what you can get if you play the coupon-and-gift-card game at wine.com.

Assuming you have (a) interest in new releases and (b) have any use for gift cards at places like Home Depot, Amazon, etc, (and the added hassle of waiting for the reward to post, etc.), the 30% back you get on purchases makes these wine.com deals crazy-cheap.

Nice haul! I haven't gotten 30 percent again since last year but I certainly abused it then..... Stuck at 6 but at least had 18 percent recently.

Good point: the 30% doesn’t last forever, maybe just your first month. But even at 18%, these are seriously tempting prices.

Nice! Is the 86 Ducru a reconditioned bottle or are the 86s mostly pre-taint?

'86 Ducru is best described as a gamble, Patrick. Fortunately, I am the only drinker who is very sensitive to TCA. If I detect taint, I won't say anything unless someone else thinks the bottle is off. I would not do this in Oregon with my bloodhound son.

Yum, the 1996 Léo Barton!

And i can't remember if it was a magnum of 1988 Gruaud Larose or Lagrange that i brought to the second BWE convention in 2002 in Napa... but i'm 75 % sure it was the Gruaud.

I've been thinking that I still don't have enough classified growth bottles from St Estephe, and I can't afford the top 3 in most vintages, so I was window shopping for Lafon-Rochet when I came upon an irresistible deal - 2010 La Dame de Montrose magnums for $99. I love that wine, so I bought 3 for $323 all in. That's the same price per ml that I paid in 2017 for 750s.
I'll work on the L-R some other time I guess.

Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru Les Lavrottes, 2017, Boursat Pere et Fils, £285/6/in bond, near Bonnes Mares and an under-the-radar producer, according to the blurb - burgundy is just so good these days - I am drinking a village 2015 Hubert Lignier Morey Tres Girard tonight and it is making the hairs stand up on the back of my neck it is so good.
