Another MAJOR score. Killer price and a killer wine. I think this is the QPR of the vintage. I bought more of this wine than anything else, Lanessan a close second.

2 Brunello di Montalcino 2011 Loacker Corte Pavone

because I wanted to see how WTSO shipping here works after they shut it down for over a year. Now they collect state sales tax so they apparently worked out a deal with the government.

Jal, when will you open the Bandol? I mean do you drink them now or will wait a bit, or wait quite much?

Nic, Pradeaux takes a long time, I think even longer than Tempier or Pibarnon. I will wait probably ten years or more.

Was being good in 2019 but lost control and bit on 3 bottles of 2014 Faiveley Clos Des Cortons for $130/each.

I tell myself that really good Burgundy grand crus for under $150/bottle will disappear from the market, but in truth I feel like Burgundy is in a bubble and the next time the economy tanks there are going to be a ton of Burgundy deals on the market. But I don't always have the self-control to wait.

I guess Clape Cornas allocations are out

1 2016 Clape Cornas
1 2016 Clape Cornas Renaissance
1 2017 Clape Vin Des Amis

I passed on some Lafarge Clos des Chênes. The price was much better than winesearcher but I just don’t ”get” Lafarge. Good thing Ben Nelson doesn’t lurk here anymore. I’d be shunned for life!

And Stefan! These are amazing prices!

Yes, Jacques. At its biannual dollar sale, Twin Liquors often has the lowest price in the country on some items, usually wines of which they only have a few bottles left. The reason for the prices are Texas liquor laws, which prohibit retailers from moving wines out of county and imposing additional taxes on bottles held in stock. In order for TL to sell e.g. the Insignia in Austin, it would have had to return the bottle to the distributor and purchase it for delivery by the distributor to Austin.

I won some d’Angludet 2008 and 2012 for good prices at auction this week.

I got six 2008 at £110 and six 2012 at £90...on top of that I pay 15% commission but pretty happy to snag a dozen of these.

We don’t talk much about this Cru bourgeois here, thoughts welcome!

Four of my six 2000 Angludet were complete busts. Nasty, fruitless. Must have been something wrong with the lot I got. The Chateau is supposedly connected to one of Palmer's owners or former owners.

I've had a few vintages but it never seemed to have a similarity to its owners stablemates, at least the times I tried it.

Lucie's worry that we don't have much high end Pauillac to drink in our 80s persuaded me to bid on a lot of 3 bottles each of 2009 Pichon Lalande, Pichon Baron, Pontet Canet, and Lynch Bages, which I won. Expensive--$2,091 including buyer's premium--but if it makes Lucie happy it is worth it.

From the Heritage auction? I came *extremely close* to bidding on this lot! It was only my current wine buying moratorium that saved us from BWE-on-BWE economic violence!

Congrats on winning it, I think you did fine price wise. $175 a bottle seems right around market price or maybe just a few dollars under. The 2009 Super Seconds are headed for $200 a bottle I think.

I'm glad you stayed out, Marc. This was the only lot I bid on. Normally I do not like to bid so close to low retail, but this lot contained the perfect things for me, much better than getting a case of any one of the wines in the mixture. Incidentally, on WineSearcherPro I found only one of these wines at less than $175, and then only at one place (Pichon Lalande is $165 at CellarRaiders; the next lowest price is $185).

I stumbled on a bottle of 2008 Dom Perignon at Costco in NH for $130. It was the only one left amongst a sea of 2009. I went back today and got another 6-pack.

While it is at Costco in NH, the state stores have not yet released it. A source suspects the State is waiting for its' quarterly price increases in April before releasing.
