Yeah, when I bought my Mouton, I used one of my $250 gold gift cards. So, my AmEx was charged $71.99, but I got another $50 in gift cards in the purchase.

So your gift cards earn gift cards, that is crazy!
I would be in big trouble if I lived within driving distance of the NH stores.

What's that Jamet like, Jacques? I've never had it, but every time I see the name I think of "voluptuous fruit" or "voluptuous fructose!"

I bought a few bottles of Bordeaux at the NH store in Hampton on Wednesday and now I’ve got a few of those $25 gift cards. I didn’t even know that promotion was going on.

Today some Champagne at MacArthur’s. Mostly buying early drinkers and Champagne these days. Not a whole lot for cellaring.

David, I have tasted the 2011 and 2012 Jamet Cote Rôtie as well as the 2017 Cotes du Rhône and the 2016 Syrah Collines Rhodaniennes, of all of these, the 2012 Cote Rôtie was the only evolved enough to be ready and still would have improved a lot with another ten years. Yes, even the Cotes du Rhône was quite young, but tasted more like a concentrated St Joseph than a simple CdR and should not have been drunk before 2022.

The Fructus Voluptas, according to the store owner, is supposed to be ready earlier than the rest of them. I will probably not open it for a few years and will report then but I hope it won’t take ten years to show well.

I like Jamet and the wines show a lot of structure and concentration but I am coming to the conclusion that they should be drunk with meat dishes in the winter.

Hope that helps
Best

Thanks Jacques. I was curious about the Fructus for the same reason you were. And the name conjures images of sugar, voluptuous women, and for some reason wolves (lupus?)!

I’m a big fan of Jamet Cote Rotie and agree they are big wines that need a lot of time. I’ve had the 2009, 2010, and 2012 in the past year. All would benefit from another 5-10 years so they sit in the cellar. Like Bordeaux, I’m not buying any more young Cote Rotie. My last year was 2016 and I won’t touch them for at least 5 years.

I just cant stop, I need an intervention.

On my way home from work tonight I stopped by the NH State store and picked up:

3- 2014 Ch Gruaud Larose ($53.99ea)
1- 2014 Ch La Conseillante ($89.49)
1- 2014 Ch Pavie Maquin ($55.99)
2- $25 Gift Cards

Total cost $307.45

I pay with a $250 NH gift card (from the promo) and $57 cash. I swear, it's like stealing, I feel like I paid $7.45 for everything

Picked off a case of 2010 Rauzan Segla @ $112/btl and a case of 2016 Clinet @ $95.90/btl through the Twins / Fruit of the Vines importer / distributor partnership which in reality kind of costed me nothing as I used proceeds from high end bourbon consignments to fund this.

6 bottles of 2009 Ch. Marsac Seguineau. The only 2 places in the US that currently advertise this vintage of this wine on Winesearcher are just half an hour away.
I drank my second to last bottle with friends last weekend and decided this chateau has remained true to the classic style of Bordeaux that I love. So I went looking for more.
Actually its still too young at 10 yrs but has enough secondary development to give me plenty of enjoyment.

Scoop: can NH liquorstores are selling faked 2014 Bordeaux? These are all Trump's wines.

Seriously, they're making what, 10 cents profit per bottle? New Englang seems like a pretty bad place for wine except recent vintahes in NH. Wish i could go there more often.

Jal, i guess you liked your visit at Jamet. I really liked it when i went in 2012. Ampuis is a nice little spot. Did you had lunch at the only bistrot?

Finally, i know 2014 is an excellent vintage. But i bought a lonely bottle of the 2014 Duhart-Milon, 2015 Petit Smith blanc (great wine, had it again last Sunday), 2016 Chateau Revelette Grand Rouge, and a few wnies for warm days, Beaujolais, unoaked spanish grenache from Torres, pinot noir from Mendoza, Sancerre and a Domaine Hautes Cances VV 2014. Hautes Cances being one of my go to producer in southern Rhône.

Nic, we didn't visit Jamet, they never answered our email but I did buy the bottle of Fructus Voluptus from the wine shop next to the Bistrot de Serine in Ampuis. I had lunch there two years ago but not this time.

Continuing to buy at auctions for our lake house:

5 1997 Climens
4 2000 Sociando-Mallet

The harder thing is buying and receiving a wine fridge for the lake house. I am leaning toward a cheap Costco model because the fridge will be in a store room and I don't know what we'll do in the long term. The tricky problem is that delivery must be at a time that my son or I are there, and delivery times are not very reliable.

At a visit in Beaune last month, we stopped at the Caveau de Puligny Montrachet and bought the following:

1 2017 Domaine Jacques Carillon Bienvenues Batard Montrachet
2 2017 Domaine Jacques Carillon Puligny Montrachet Les Referts
3 2017 Domaine Jacques Carillon Puligny Montrachet Les Perrieres
2 2017 Domaine Jacques Carillon Puligny Montrachet Les Champs Canet
2 2017 Thomas Morey et Fils Chassagne-Montrachet Les Chenevottes
1 2017 Domaine Michel Bouzereau Puligny-Montrachet Les Champs Gains
2 2016 Benoit Ente Puligny-Montrachet Clos de la Truffiere
2 2017 Henri Germain Chassagne-Montrachet Les Morgeots
2 2017 Domaine Tessier Meursault Genevrieres
2 2017 Domaine Rollin Pere et Fils Corton-Charlemagne

Guess we're going to drink a lot of White Burgundies in the future!

Impressive line-up of White Burgs. Did you have them shipped to you here in the US? If yes, did they end up getting processed through Customs? I purchased a couple of cases in Beaune a number of years ago that went through Customs when they arrived in Chicago. I got a call to pick them up at some remote terminal area near the airport. Upon arriving, I found my wine sitting outside in 90+ temperatures waiting to be picked up.

I bought some Bordeaux in St Emilion a few years back and they were shipped straight to my place in Florida.

Nice listing Jal. I too need to buy some more white Bourgogne.

Bought two 2016 Meursault Vieilles Vignes from Buisson-Charles (good stuff) lately. Need to buy some Chassagne and Puligny as well. None lfet anywhere in my reserve.

It won't happen soon, but i dream to taste some white Chardonnay from Côte d'Or, lightly chilled, in Florida (or anywhere else), in the Levy's company. I still remember that lunch, in Chappaqua, with you guys and a Niellon Chassagne.

Swung by Grapes on my way home yesterday to pick up a couple of purchases from last week and found 3 btls which piqued my interest on the last bottle rack which were marked down an additional 25% and worked out to a 2010 Fontodi CC for $24.74, a 2012 Pierre Gonon Saint-Joseph for $44.99 and a 2016 Chave Mon Coeur CdR for $15.74.
