I felt like making one more purchase in 2020 so I picked up a couple cases from Saratoga Wine. The prices on these looked pretty good.
The T-L was deeply discounted by the case so I went for it. I'll have a full case of the L-L in my cellar too after this arrives.
I've never seen Bernadotte or Pey de Pont before but reviews on CT were positive.

3 2016 Château Bernadotte $15
4 2018 Château Lilian Ladouys $24
2 2015 Château Pey de Pont $17
1 2016 Château Peyrabon $17
2 2016 Château du Retout $15.50
12 2016 Château Tronquoy-Lalande $30

That is a really good price for Bernadotte, normally its one of the pricier cru bourgeoise ($25-$30) based on their historical - now lapsed - relationship with Pichon Lalande. I try to buy their wine in good vintages, but its not gigantic production (maybe 2000-3000 cases) so its not available everywhere. That being said, I generally don't want cases or large quantities of a single bottling nowadays, so case discounts and all that ilk are aspects I'll have to pass on.

If you got the 1990 for anything under $200/bottle that's a "bargain" by todays standards.

First purchase of the year. While searching through some high end burgundy vineyard holdings, I stumbled upon the 2015 Louis Jadot Bonnes Mares that was marked down from its regular wholesale price of $300/btl to $225/btl on a case purchase within the Jersey wholesale system. I thought for a minute and then promptly stuck it in the cart and low and behold it showed up the next day. And now I bid this 6pack Bonne Nuit

Made my first purchase of a bottle of Sergio Zenato Amarone Riserva'13 at $86 Cdn ($65USD). Price is too good for just one bottle but I'd fulfilled my promise of only one bottle one month.

Swung by Zachys to pick up a last btl of George Laval Cumieres 1er Brut Nature for $52.50 and while there spotted mags of 2017 and 2018 Thebaud Boudignon Anjou Blanc on a clearance rack for $50/per and scooped them up as well.

Picked up a trio of the recently released Ulysse Collin Les Maillons Rose de Saignee Extra Brut (2016 base) as you got to take them when they are available.

While browsing the Weygandt-Metzler book I ended up putting together an assortment of wines including: 3 x 2016 Edmond Vatan Clos La Neore Sancerre, 3 x 2017 Philippe Jouas Gevrey Chambertin Aux Echezeaux, 3 x Philippe Jouan Morey Saint Denis Clos Sorbe 1er, 3 of each the 2012 and 2014 Bernard & Thierry Glantenay Clos des Chenes Volnay 1er (now I get to taste some of these for myself after reading various notes of yours), 12 x 2017 Chappelle St Theodoric Le Grand Pin

Oh and as not to get banned from BWE, I was a participant in a group purchase of wines from Justin Bonnes on WB and snagged a 2015 Vieux Chateau Certain @ $275 and a pair of 2005 Ducru Beaucaillou @ $175/per.

Oh fudge! I put a fairly aggressive bid in 7 days ago on a 6 bottle lot of the 1995 l’Evangile and promptly forgot about it assuming I’d get outbid. Well, they bid me up to within a dollar of my max bid, but I won. :? :(

Donald Trump is really a good man to represents USA people, Democrats or Republicans.

A bit like him, some people here say they won't buy any wines in 2021 or they are done buying wine for this year, and less than X hours after, are doing the exact opposite... saying something and saying/doing the opposite shortly after.

Troubling.

Jckba, let us know if you open/try one.

I mainly bought the Santenots 1er Cru that is a great terroir, but the Clos des Chênes 1er Cru is also a great terroir, probably representing the "ultimate Volnay" style. I was considering buying some 2018 Clos des Chênes, but did not yet.

I had a similar plan but ended up with 4 2016 La Dame de Montrose, 4 Pol Roger NV and 4 375's of Tattinger. All they had left was Krug 167. They still have Geyserville 2015, no 2018. I still have to pick up my 2 cases of 2015 Corbin from auction win.

Nic, will do and if you take a look at the importers page for Glantenay, scroll down to the technical info as it shows you the differences in vine age and soil types across the different wines.

The Bernadotte bested both the Pey de Pont and the Pey rabon in my recent explorations. I'd say the 2016 has good character, some upside in the 8-12 year age range, and very good QPR at $15. I've got to see if they have a few more.

3 x 2016 Côte-Rotie, La Giroflarie, Domaine Patrick Jasmin. I always liked Jasmin's wines, I find them among the more seductive of the different Cote Rotie offerings out there. Whatever they lose in complexity, they gain in elegance, balance and charm.

I bought two six packs of Vietti Barolo Castiglione 2016, @£185ib each, something I have been contemplating for a while, and stocks have been getting low now at this price.

I also bought two six packs of Barolo, Aculei, La Bioca 2016 @140ib each. This is a wine I have never heard of, but in the latest Decanter magazine, Italy supplement, it was awarded ‘best in class’ by Stephen Brook MW, in a competitive field of other 2016 Barolos, so at that price it was hard to say no.

I am slowly building up a portfolio of 2016 Barolos and Barbarescos, but Rome wasn’t built in a day.

Ian, I have bought some of the Vietti as well, and a few other value 2016 Barolo's. The vintage has me hesitant though, it appears that a lot of them are showing up with 14.5% alcohol or even a little higher in some cases. What are your thoughts about this?

I would not worry unduly about this Joel as Barolo is naturally high in alcohol and naturally higher in alcohol than Bordeaux, burgundy or the northern Rhone...the range is typically 13.5-15%...and as in Bordeaux 2016 was not a hot vintage in Piedmont like it was in 2015.

I've been shopping for Calon Segur since yesterday, and on a flyer looked at 2014 on Winesearcher this morning. I found a store in NJ with 3 bottles of 2014 C-S at a ridiculous price, along with 4 375s of the second wine at a likewise low price. I threw a few other singlets they had on sale into my 12 bottle case and checked out before the deal disappeared.
1 2014 Bel Air de Siran $20.79
4 2014 Marquis de Calon 375 $16.99
3 2014 Calon-Segur $39.99
1 2016 Ch. du Moulin Rouge $21.99
1 2018 Echo de Lynch Bages $63.99
1 2014 Sociando Mallet $34.99
1 2014 Lacoste Borie $43.99

With only $22 shipping I think I made out ok.
The two Pauillac wines may be overpriced but not by enough to overtake the deal on the St Estephes.

Well done Chris. I wish I could find that type of deal here. For the 2016, related to your other post, i have been lucky to find one bottle at aprox 100 $usd here. I bought it immediately. But i have one lonely bottle.

Unfortunately Nic, as I suspected, the deal was too good to be true. Someone from the store called me this afternoon to say the website was in error and the Calon Segur was not available, so I canceled the entire order.
It was certainly worth taking the chance though.

Just an incompetent wine shop (Wine Legend).
Some common sense has returned and now I've set my sites in another direction. Seeing that the 2018 C-S is 14.9%abv diminishes my interest in cellaring even one bottle.
So I may splurge on a full case of '18 Ch. Talbot while the price is good instead of getting just a few expensive bottles of a highly rated wine.

The Times has a daily morning update which includes a pangram puzzle. You have to make a word using all of the 7 letters and no other letters. Some letters can be used more than once. I got today's almost instantly. It’s presence in this thread is a hint.
