Picked up a bunch at the latest Skinner auction. It's my favorite auction house since I don't have to ship and I can usually find some decent deals despite the 23% vig.

4x 1989 Leoville Barton
4x 1986 Beychevelle
2x 1983 Beychevelle
1x 1990 Leoville Las Cases
1x 2005 Clerc Milon
1x 1988 Gruaud Larose
1x 1989 d'Armailhac
1x 1978 d'Issan
1x 1978 Talbot (375)
1x 1996 Talbot
1x 1990 Duhart Milon
1x 1982 Dessault
2x 2001 Bressler Cab
4x 1996 Seavey Cab
3x 1997 Whitehall Lane Rsv Cab

This should hold me at least until the live auction on the 8th, lol.

Not buying much in quantity these days. Most recently 4 bottles of 2014 Climens @ $65 each and 4 bottles of 2014 Pichon Lalande @ $99 each. Had a chance to taste both of them last month and was very impressed. Thought the prices were reasonable.

3 2005 d'Angludet
1 2005 de Pez
1 2005 Ormes de Pez
1 2005 Duhart-Milon
2 2005 Ferriere
1 2000 Coutet
1 2001 Rauzan-Segla
1 NV Michel Arnould "Reserve" Brut Verzenay Champagne
1 NV Franck Bonville "Prestige" Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne
1 2009 Franck Bonville "Millesime" Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne
1 NV Jean Josselin "Cuvée des Jean" Brut Champagne
1 NV Billecart-Salmon "Brut Reserve" Champagne
1 2004 Charles Ellner "Prestige" Brut Champagne
1 2012 La Gaffelière
1 2010 Bel-Orme Tronquoy de Lalande
1 1999 Lanessan
1 2010 Langoa-Barton
1 2001 Guiraud, Sauternes
1 2014 La Chablisienne Chablis 1er Cru "Vaillons"
1 2014 La Chablisienne Chablis 1er Cru "Vaulorent"
1 2014 La Chablisienne Chablis 1er Cru "Beauroy"
1 2001 Domaine Pierre Amiot Clos de la Roche Grand Cru
1 2014 Evening Land "Seven Springs Vineyard" Pinot Noir
3 2012 Louis Jadot Beaune 1er Cru "153rd Anniversary Cuvee"

I am still buying for our fall in Berkeley because my kids drink so much. Last night 2006 Cos d'Estournel was a hit; 2005 Ormes de Pez not so much. Everyone liked the 3 relatively cheap La Chablisienne 1er Cru Chablis. 2014 Chablis is as good as its reputation. Many, at half the price of village Chassagne or Meursault or Puligny, are great buys.

For Friday:

NV Billecart-Salmon. I found it boring after the Ellners yesterday; some liked it more than the Ellners.

2000 Dom Perignon. Not a great Dom, but everyone liked the fine mousse and overall class of this wine.

To come:

2001 Amiot Clos de la Roche and 2002 Arlaud Charmes-Chambertin.

Very nice Jim, for some reason the Nashua stores didn't get that much Calon Segur and have missed out getting at there. The Sociando looks irresistible at that price and what I've read.

Sipping on the Sociando right now, Gerry, it is very lovely, a real BWE kind of effort, nice restraint, balance, a spiciness to it, not really detecting that usual Sociando "green streak." Struck by the density of the color. A $28 wine times two!

Very well done indeed, Gerry!

Let me know what you think about the Meyney if you open one Gerry.

For my part, not buying much lately.

Few 2005 R. Lopez Heredia Tondonia Reserva and 2011 Silvio Grasso Barolo. Two wines about the same price as the 2014 Meyney here.

Thinking about doing a silly buy shortly, but I'm still resisting...

I went back up to NH intending to buy some 2014 Duhart Milon but got cold feet at the last minute and instead bought:

6x 2014 Lafon Rochet
6x 2014 Haut Batailley

The month is still young and I may still grab some Duhart but the cheapskate in me holds me back.

I ordered 6 bottles of 2014 Duhart from JJ Buckley at $54, I've never ordered from them before.
I intend to get more 2014 Lafon Rochet in NH.

Earlier this week I bought:

1 x Faiveley Mazis-Chambertin 1993

That’s it for 2017. In 2018 I will be much more abstemious.

Split a case purchase of the 2012 Baudry La Croix Boisee with a friend to take advantage of the Astor 25% off red wine by the case sale this past Wednesday as the cost per btl came down to $35.22 + tax.

3 2009 Domaine Gerard Raphet Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru "Cuvée Unique" Vieilles Vignes

1 2001 Maison Bigot & Alex Gambal Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru
1 2002 Maison Bigot & Alex Gambal Clos de Vougeot

That was my last purchase in Berkeley. We are back home now. This week I received 3 boxes from Domaine Drouhin and today 7 boxes from St Innocent. I do not have storage space for all of these, so I will quit buying wine for a while. We just do not drink enough wine.

With the two nice Chambolle I had during the holidays (2011 Taupenot-Merme 1er Cru Combe d'Orveau and 2012 Hudelot-Noellat village), i will source some more Chambolle in the coming weeks.

Started last Sundy as I found a lonely bottle of the same 2011 Taupenot-Merme Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Combe d'Orveau, a marvellous wine.

I have a hard to understand love ❤️ for Chambolle.

That's a good price! The SO and I drank the 2001 a few nights ago. We both love CNDP when after its gained some complexity.
