Bobby:
I don't read any sites other than BWE, but I'm not surprised about the 2002 Mouton as that is the greatest vintage of the new century.
I have exactly one 2002 Mouton in my cellar.
In fact, it is the only Mouton I have in my cellar.

Trivia question: Can you guess the chateaus in the other cases partially in the above picture.
Other than the obvious Lafite, what are the other 9 estates?

Auction time again...

6 82 Sociando Mallet, 3 82 Durfort Vivens, 3 82 La Pointe, 6 78 La Lagune, 2 76 Yquem, 1 66 Pape Clement, 1 59 Pavie Decesse, 1 59 Rausan Segla, 1 36 LMHB, and a few other odd-non-Bordeaux.

If I can pick them up in time, I'll bring a couple with me to Bordeaux for the trip.

Nice scores, Tim. I'll happily help you drink any of those next time I come to Paris (which, unfortunately, will probably not be soon).

Probably my best buy in the last few weeks was a case of Jadot 2013 Chassagne Morgeot at $23/bottle. The best wine is 1996 Yquem (2 bottles). Coming from PC, I'll be lucky if I get them before I croak. I bought six more 2010 Brunello; this time Banfi's Pogio Alle Mura. Other than that, only four bottles at auction--2 Brunellos, a Barolo, and a '96 du Tertre (mine were all gone).

2007 and 2012 Chapoutier 'Banyuls'

Inexplicably, one of those was at my market, and the other at HDH.

These are to my tastes, the greatest pairs for dessert chocolates around.

I swore that I wouldn't buy any 2010s.
Then I swore that the 2010s I bought would be my last.

It was easy to skip the 2011s.

With some enthusiastic reports from Parker and Leve, it was back to swearing that I wouldn't buy any 2012s.
Then I was inspired by Father Stefan.

So today I bought the following 2012s:
Clinet
Pape Clement
Smith Haut Lafitte
Malartic Lagraviere
Troplong Mondot
Clos Fourtet
Larcis Ducasse

Ancient buys, delivery next week.

2009 Le Crock 750ml (QTY. 12)
2008 Chevalier, Domaine de 750ml (QTY. 3)
2009 Chateau Saint Paul 750ml (QTY. 12)
2009 La Gurgue 750ml (QTY. 12)
2008 Figeac 750ml (QTY. 6)
2010 Cantemerle 750ml (QTY. 4)

There's also a case of 2010 Talbot out there. I hesitate to say never but it's been at least a year since I've made other than a causal supermarket or wine shop buy. It feels good.

I don't know. Not terribly large maybe 40 cases? I have wine all over Salida I have to get from friends who were holding it while I was in Hawaii. What I learned from Hawaii was that I was perfectly happy drinking both cheap, locally available young Bdx and other assorted wines like Valpolicella, Dolcetto, Rioja and the odd Zin and just having something from the Houndsong collection once a month or so. Figure that the climate, culture and cuisine lends itself more to beer than red wine and I don't foresee much need to keep laying away things. The shame of it is in not having more truly mature claret to differentiate from just the "any old' red wine when we do have a stead or something.

I'm drinking more Italian and Spanish wines nowadays, even though the cellar is still overwhelmingly bdx. The wines have gotten much better over the last 20 years from those regions. I was very critical once of Italian wines, but am glad to recant now. Spanish stuff I think one has to watch the styles. The importer will give you some hint of what it will probably be like. When I was younger I was more fond of those pumped out wines (Numanthia is probably the arch posterboy) for that but I stopped buying those a long time ago.

How much does it cost to ship a case from CA to HI ?

Ian, what's the 05 Beychevelle run over there? It's gotten pricey here.

Re: So what have you bought lately?

by Comte Flaneur
It works out $120-130 a bottle, Patrick.

I think the price of Beychevelle got inflated by the Chinese dragon boat infatuation. Shame about that because it has not really been a big hit with Parker over the years, so it might have been cheaper.

However I tasted it the day before we set off for France and it was magnificent. I tasted it next to the extremely highly rated Branaire, Leoville-Barton and Montrose 2005s and the Beychevelle was tops. I think MEK would concur with that.

So it is just a matter of time until I succumb to the temptation to accumulate some. I also tried the 2000 recently which also impressed - very happy to own a case of that.

A while back I bought few bottles (some four, some six packs) of...

2012 LLC under 80
2012 PC under 60
2012 Cos under 80 and
2012 Ducru under 70

Just like Stefan, I bought the above from 'YouKnowWhere'....It was my son's birth year, so I jumped in early...

Fantastic prices guys...if you can pick up LLC 2012 for $80 you should buy as much as you can.

I paid 50% more over here in the UK.

On wine searcher I see it for much higher prices than $80 in the US. Nearer to what I am paying.

Jim would you not agree it was just the most *pure* class in a glass - nothing forced, just effortlessly brilliant.

It was definitely in my top five wines of the tour.
