The 04 and 08 L. Barton are $75-$80 today. Not really that tempting, though I see the 2014 for $59. Not that I'm buying wine or anything...

Wow. Slowly the 08 prices are creeping up a bit. Couple of years ago I bought 08 Barton for 43 bucks. There were barely any takers at that time and I saw that deal at the store for couple of months straight...

Not to tempt you, but the 04 LB is a special wine, not just a good wine. Really remarkable in its complexity and texture. In a place now where it has lively fruit but the delicacy sophistication of a much more aged wine. Clearly better than e.g. the 2002 LB which is a very good wine. I loaded up at $60 but $75 is not a bad price for a wine that good.

2004 is an underrated vintage and drinking very well, maybe one of the best of the ought vintages for drinking now.

I had it a bit over two years ago Patrick in a GPL vertical dinner. It edged out the 1996 to be wotn. So I have been on the look out. When I collect them I will broach one and report back.

Strangely enough, I sold my case of 2000 GPL in 2011 for $1,000, so about the same price you just bought it, Ian.

I know you are not a big fan of GPL Jacques. My favourite vintages are 1995, 1996 and 2000. I was less enamoured by the 2005 and I hear you on the 2009.

Chris B well done in snagging some 1985 Leoville Barton. I tried it last night and Neal Martin's note nails it. I wouldn't pay that price for it, however.

Twelve different bottles of rare single malt scotch from K&L. They've got really good prices on a huge and unique inventory of whiskies, many of which they direct import from Scotland. Most are 18 years old, cask strength and unusual.

But I pulled trigger mainly because I think shipping booze (especially spirits) will become ever harder and the scotch selection in Colorado is limited and pretty expensive.

One case of 2014 Niellon Chassagne Montrachet les Champ Gains
One case of 2014 Jacques Carillon Puligny Montrachet les Champs Canet
And some champagne
Four bottles of Agrapart NV
Six bottles of Billecart Salmon Rose
Six bottles of 2010 Ulysse Collin les Pierrieres

No red Bordeaux or red Burgundies these days. It's white wine weather in Florida and i keep running out of these.

I just had to pull the trigger. It's my anniversary year and it's been on my radar for years but never stepped up. I paid thru the nose at $280/btl but the retail is $300+ and don't see this getting any cheaper. The bottles are also pristine condition all with good fills. I'm keeping my fingers crossed on opening my first one tonight at Michael Malinoski's birthday bash. Any decanting advice?

Yeah, I would give it a good couple hours Gerry.
That $280 price is a decent price compared to what it is going out there at both retail and auction.
K&L had it going at retail for $399 recently.

Well done David, look away now.

1. One case of Pontet Canet 2012

2. Six bottles of Robert Chevillon NSG Pruliers 2015
Three bottles of Robert Chevillon NSG Cailles 2015 (I asked for six but only got three in the burgundy lottery)

3. Three cases of Cave Duplessis Chablis 2014 (one of Petit Chablis @$15 a bottle, one of Chablis @ $20 a bottle and one of 1er Cru Montmains @$25 a bottle, all of which I think are keenly priced, pre-Brexit prices I suspect.)

I got the last of the 2014 Louis Michel Montmains at K&L for $29, Ian, during the BWE convention. It is really good.

On close out at K&L today I got two bottles each of
2011 Elio Grasso "Gavarini Chiniera" Barolo
2010 Mauro Veglio "Arborina" Barolo.

The Grasso is my first purchase of 2011 Italian wine. I have concentrated on buying 2010, but how could I pass up the Elio Grasso @ $50?

stefan - 2011 is a useful vintage in Barolo. It was a hot year but the wines are accessible and pleasurable. I am drinking an outstanding bottle of Giacomo Fenoccchio Barolo Bussia 2010 tonight with lasagne, it is nice but needs a quite few more years to reach its peak. The 2013s are the next big trophy vintage in Barolo after 2010.
