I just received 2 bottles of the 2011 Chateau Certan de May, one of my biggest surprise of 2016 when I had it. Other great surprise in 2016 was another 2011, Chateau Calon Segur.

7 2013 Forman Cabernet
3 2013 Newton Unfiltered Cabernet
2 2014 Antonin Guyon Pernand- Vergelesses 1er Cru Sous

With the latest NH 15% off case sale it was tough to pass up given I don't find that much there these days that I can't find cheaper in MA or elsewhere.

Really long time ago I really enjoyed the Newton unfiltered Chardonnay and Cabernets. Would be interested in any recent impressions.

I had a 2005 Newton Unfiltered Cab recently and it was hard work to drink.

I liked the Newton Unfiltered Cabs from the early 90s. 1991, 1992 and 1994 were a high water mark for modern California in my book.

A case of Clos Du Marquis 2012 for £300 ex taxes. Solid logic behind this purchase given how good the GV is - and this is no longer a second and it has a lot more Cabernet than usual in the blend, plus 2012 is the new 1985. Well that is how I talked myself into buying it, ahead of my Q4 buying freeze.

Could you please explain why? If not GPL, what other Pauillac would you recommend at similar price point?

Some Daniel Rion (2012 Echezeaux and 2014 Vosne 1er Beaux Monts), a 2013 Hermitage Greffieux from Chapoutier (I'm trying to find few bottles of 2013, for my second daugther Béatrice, that will hold well to her majority) and some Chartogne-Taillet Champagne.

Picked up a 6er of the 2015 Charvin CdP for just under $50/per all in from PJ’s as well as two 6ers of the 2015 Beaucastel CdP from Rye Brook that I procured with some store credit that I had amassed from several LE bourbon sales that I had on consignment there. A bunch more on my Southern Rhône shopping list including the Mon Olivet Cuvée Papet, Pegau, some Saint Prefert single vineyards if I can find ‘em for a decent price, Vieux Donjon and Vieux Telegraphe,

Good luck with that, I almost never win at K&L and I usually get blown out of the water. Seems there’s a real premium folks are willing to pay at K&L.

I rarely win at K&L. I put out over $2000 in bids this last time and got only eight small things for a total of $350.

There's a lot of money sloshing around the Bay Area, and K&L is benefiting from it.

I popped in on Sunday before closing, and it was just packed.

Apart from what Arv has chimed in about bay area,

1. Unlike other auction houses (like HDH, Zachys, etc.), the individual lots are smaller and that appeals to people who don't want half a case or full cases. Something similar to winebid...

2. But compared to winebid, usually, the provenance is better (at least going by lot description)

3. The commission is smaller compared to winebid and other houses...
