Easy for me to resist 2010 Bordeaux - I'll probably be 90 by the time they are in their prime drinking window.

You'll still be a dozen or so years away from the Great Tasting Room in the Sky at that time!

I finally gave in on some 2010 Bordeaux, and bought a few of each of the following:

Barde Haut
Gloria
Grand Puy Lacoste
Haut Bages Liberal
Haut Bergey
La Lagune
Rochemorin

All due to BWE enablement, further facilitated by some decent NY Day pricing. Other than the GPL, these should all be drinkable by age 10, but there has just been too much good stuff said about it. The Rochemorin should be good to go right now, so that one will get popped soon.

And a couple of bottles of Krug MV Champagne.

In mid January I picked up a 6 pack of 2012 Beaucastel mags for $130/per from my private client rep at JJBuckley and then last week I gave in and picked up a couple of 6 packs of the 2010 Ponsot Corton Cuvee Bourdon in OWC through a NJ wholesaler for a song but other than that I have been trying to lay off blowing my budget on a monthly basis.

My most recent purchases include

A case of Poujeaux 2010
A case of Pichon Baron 2005
A case of Ducru Beaucaillou 1999
A case of Calon Segur 1995
4 bottles of Leoville Lascases 1988
1 bottle of Cos 1986
1 bottle of Pichon Lalande 1989
1 magnum of La Conseillante 1988

1 case of Vincent Paris Cornas Geynale 2007

1 case of Massolino Barolo 2007
A six pack of Castello Di Nieve Barbaresco Santo Stefano 2007
3 bottles of Ceretto Barolo Prapo 2000
1 bottle of Mascarello Barolo Villero 2007

I have so far resisted buying any 2010 Brunellos. When the Sucher is doling out such
high scores across the board it sets off alarm bells.

The Sucker's taste in Italian wines is not so bad, not that I follow what he has to say. I picked up 10 2010 Poggione Brunello and finally got some Bdx; six each of 2012 Pontet Canet and Cos D'Estournel. Also 6 2004 Pol Roger and 6 2005 Bollinger; 2 Krug NV. The only slightly older reds are 1997 Stefano Farina Barolo, 1999 Pio Cesare Barolo, 2007 Marchesi di Barolo Barolo, and two 2007 Vietti Barolo Castiglione.

Now if I can just get my contractor to start on my wine closet...

Funny you should mention that Bill, but I just got back from an Italian tasting here where a lot of the Big Enchildadas were showing - Gaja, Giacosa, Tenuta San Guido, Tua Rita, Ornellaia, Romano Dal Forno etc...and my highlight was Sesti Rosso and Brunello -2007/10/11 - wonderful stuff - buy like the wind BWErs, ask questions later.

The '07 Brunellos are mostly already pleasing for my palate and nose. Good thing, as I don't have many older ones. Glad to hear about the '11s.

A sixer of 2009 La Lagune.

Ok, I went a little wild this past weekend with the auctions. Mostly single bottles, except where indicated, and a few mixed lots that had some less interesting stuff thrown in.

Mixed case of Champagne
1929 Tokaji Aszu 5 Putanos
1937 Chateau Margaux (3)
1947 Petrus
1953 Chateau Yon-Figeac
1958 Chateau Ausone (2)
1959 Petrus (3)
1959 Chateau Batailley
1959 Chateau Calon-SÈgur
1961 Domaine de la Romanee-Conti Grands-Echezeaux
1961 Chateau Beychevelle
1966 Chateau Canon
1966 Chateau Cos d'Estournel
1968 Chateau Lafite Rothschild
1970 Chateau Gloria (2)
1975 Chateau Leoville Las Cases
1975 Chateau Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande
1976 Chateau La Lagune (2)
1982 Chateau Dauzac
1982 Chateau d'Issan (2)
1982 Chateau Lagrange
1983 Chateau Ducru-Beaucaillou
1989 Chateau Giscours
1990 Chateau Giscours
1996 Pavillon Rouge du Chateau Margaux
1996 Chateau Sociando-Mallet (5)
1996 Chateau Pontet-Canet (3)
1997 Chateau Cantenac Brown
1998 Chateau Pontet-Canet (2)
1998 Chateau Lafon-Rochet
1999 Chateau Branaire Ducru
1999 Penfolds Grange
2000 Chateau Yon-Figeac
2000 Chateau Giscours (2)
2002 Chateau La Conseillante
2003 Chateau Bois Pertuis Excellence de Bois Pertuis (2)

Fills varied on the older bottles from great to low, and some of the wines were negociant-bottled. Total cost of all of the above was about the same as a half case of 2010 Lafite. (At least that is the justification that I used to buy as much as I did...)

Of course the Petrus could be fake. There is a ton of fake stuff on the market, just check out Ebay. Some obvious forgeries. Petrus is so tricky, which is why I only buy when it is either incredibly cheap (and so factor the risk into the price) or perfect provenance, which is usually way too expensive.

Recently I got the following...

Never had Nenin. Any thoughts on Nenin in general or 09 Nenin? For a close out of $26, what the heck, I thought I would get some Bordeaux under 30 bucks from the "vintage of the century"...

73 Borgogno Barolo Reserva for $85
79 Pichon Lalande for $65
95 Duval-Leroy Champagne for $70
04 Du Tertre for $30
08 Gruaud Larose (4) for $18 each on a closeout
09 Nenin (4) for $26 each
10 Poujeaux (2) for $31 each
12 Pontet Canet (2) for $60 each

Nenin is a Pomerol that usually doesn't taste as smooth as others, but lasts longer.

It's usually more expensive than it ought to be, imo.

That is an exceptional price you found it at though.

Can't ever recall Gruaud Larose that cheap anywhere. You can't get Sarget de Gruaud that cheap normally.

The store was having a sale, and accidentally put half bottle price on the regular bottles for 09 Nenin and 08 Gruaud. Although they realized it later, the store honored the display price...I cleaned whatever was left of those two wines...

Bobby G, my concern about cracking open a case of 2003 Sociando is that I will quickly drink the whole case.
In fact I have a case each of 2002, 2003, and 2004 Sociando sitting one atop the other in the cellar and I am afraid that if I crack open one case I will drink every wine in all three cases due to my obsessive personality disorder.
