This seems like a bit much at the outset but I have a feeling it might go well with the sirloin.

Boy this has a real Mouton-purple to it. Whether it is a style to your liking or not, it is undeniably a serious wine.

I bet you wouldn't like it. Am I losing my bet?

I will be interested in the final verdict. I bought one bottle just for the heck of it. I used to like Caymus back in the late 80s and early 90s when it was $20 plus or minus per bottle. But I walked away the year they jacked the price up more than 50% - seemingly correlated with a big rating from WS, if I recall. And have not been back since - until this bottle.

I'm going to make a bold statement:
I like this wine... As long as you drink it with a sirloin steak.
Which, I realize, is a bit of a limitation, but not an unreasonable limitation.
This puppy will benefit from another 2-5 years under its belt.
It is definitely serious stuff.
Let it age another 3-4 years, and drinki it with a nice steak dinner.
Nothing wrong with this wine, it is delicious.

Available here, i look at it but did not bought a bottle. I bought some Produttori Del Barbaresco instead.

Maybe i'll buy a bottle or two, as the BD liked it.

The Caymus i have in The cellar is the 2008 special sélection, but never tried it.

Jim, after reading your positive experience I went ahead and popped a bottle that I had brought home earlier in the year from when it was first released. Now I had it with skirt steak and not with sirloin but for me I couldn't get over the ever present oak that this wine exuded at this stage in its life.

The nose shows vanilla, black fruit and oak which leads to much of the same on the palate for better or for worse. Not exactly sure how this is going to evolve but right now it is a little bit of a one trick pony. 88 points

I feel guilty leafing you to drink that done jckba.
I tend to have off the beaten path preferences in my wines.
Myself, I thought the wine matched up beautifully with the juicy steak.
