Tim will come to hour hotel in about 20 minutes. A couple of hours ago I opened

2006 St Innocent Anden Vineyard Pinot Noir Special Selection,

which of course I tasted to make sure that it is in good shape, which it is. The room service platter is not being served because the hotel bartender is out, so the desk clerk directed us to "one of the best cheese shops in Paris", which is only one block from our hotel, to get some alcohol absorption material.

I'll take my laptop downstairs so that we can share our pre dinner activity with BWEers everywhere.

Hurry up Tim; I am thirsty!

Never drank wine from a Leffe glass before, but they look better than the tiny wine glasses at the bar. The bartender must have locked up the larger stemware.

Lucie says that the baggett is tasty. Besides being thirsty, we are hungry after skipping lunch.

Tim says, "huge fruit; that red cherry going on." "I love this wine," chimes in Lucie. "Better than Leffe," opines stefan. "The age gouda is such a good pairing with this wine," adds Lucie, who is always thinking about the food/wine combination.

Our second wine is 1995 Gazin, popped and poured. It was funky on opening, but that apparently due to overfill. Nice fragrance.

Tim is trying to convince us to cross the Big Pond on a boat.

I thought that Lucie would say, "no way", but she is listening.

Some tobacco and grass in the Gazin. Tannins are strong. OK, but not a particularly good bottle of this wine, or maybe it just needs a couple of hours more of air. We'll save the rest and revisit it tomorrow.

Aged Gouda and 2006 St Innocent Anden Vineyard Pinot Noir Special Selection, very nice indeed.

Indeed, Glenn.

Lucie and I finished the Gazin tonight with cheese. This bottle was not as good as previous ones even if I could not detect any flaw.

It has been years since I have drunk the 1995 Gazin but I recall it as being very, very tannic in its youth.
