2012 Château Mont-Redon Lirac

Post by Nicklasss »

With a grilled beef tenderloin grilled on the bbq outside, with 5 peppers sauce, i thought a Rhône wine would be good.

So selecting the 2012 Lirac from Château Mont-Redon was natural, with it's non imaginative blend of 70% grenache, 20 % syrah and 10% mourvèdre. Medium cherry red color, nose is nice with cherry sauce, concentrated cranberries, herbs. Mouth is fat, warm, with medium power, missing a bit of elegance If i compare to their Chateauneuf. But nice Black licorice, cherries syrup, light wood, tannins, some alcohol cherry on the final. Correct but I was expecting more. Or just maybe i was in need of some wine with more complex fruit and acidity. But when well with the meal, but in it's own, a bit flat. TN: 85.
