They last forever, but at 20 years of age it should be just fine to drink now.
Think of it as akin to a fino sherry.

We drank some D'Arlay last fall when we visited the Jura. I highly recommend Besançon, but not vin Jaune. It is an acquired taste, I guess. The Juranians drink it with Comté cheese, as Alex mentioned. This powerhouse cheese does not subdue vin Jaune.

If one is making a fine fondue, some recipes call for a few ounces of Comte.
