And you might as well get in practice now and start posting them in March.
I want a huge month of tasting notes in April, leading into the historic BWE delegation trip to Bordeaux in May....
So get your palates cleansed and ready....

Lucie and I drank a lovely 2008 Raphet Charmes-Chambertin for dinner tonight. The bouquet contains asphalt and petrol, and the taste is consistent with the nose. There is a lot of red fruit, including tart cranberries, but also dark fruit in the back. As light as one would expect, the wine is not at all thin and holds very well. No doubt this wine will improve a lot over then next decade, but mine will all be gone in a few years because I have a reasonable supply of the 2009 as well.

....leading into the historic month of May, "BWE In Bordeaux" Month where, after 15 years in existence, a BD-led trip to Bordeaux, with large amounts of contemporaneous postings from the holy land, will occur.

Jim,

Bad time for me. Trying to shed pounds and pounds of unwanted winter fat built up by this brutal winter. Had one bottle of wine in the month of March while in withdrawal on this low carb diet. Down 19 lbs but sure miss a good meal/drink. Will go off the fast this week in Scottsdale with some friends.

2004 Pavie Macquin bought on celebration of our visit in 2005 with barrel samples tasted suggesting. possible potential. Not that it was noted by me because I thought a lot of these young wines tasted out of barrel were absolutely gross. I have no idea how anyone predicts these ugly ducklings may one day turn to the swan. The most noticeable was Clos l'Eglise Clinet. I still remember climbing into the crypts with Werner and Chris behind the winery after tasting these horridly tannic brooding monsters. I wondered what I was doing here. David G with a grin on his face not knowing whether he was enjoying this stuff of politely wondering what the F...! The place was rustic to say the least and dirty looking cement vats made me/us question what the F...! Nevertheless on a semi wine fast to get my ass into some pants again I had to see how my commemorative case of 2004 PM was doing to recharge my waining palate and prepare the mood for France 2015! Yes looking forward to this epic revival tour with some new and old friends. PM did not disappoint. Dark cassis with espresso notes and rounding out tannins, long finish and a great purchase to remember France 2005 with friends. Hopefully will remember to bring a bottle to share ITNOS in May to relive the memories.

I have fasted as well for the same reasons Danny.
The April tasting note requirement merely requires tasting notes of what has been drunk, whether 1 bottle per month or 31.
Because I am a kind and benevolent dictator.

Is 31 the limit?

Last night for dinner I drank 2012 Adelsheim Pinot Noir at a restaurant in Columbia, MO. This entry level Oregon PN is OK, but others (especially St Innocent's) are better. The taste and quality were a bit better than the food I ate, a three mushroom dish that was a seasonal special.

Stefan, ever try Patricia Green Cellars Pinot Noirs? There is a very good deal on a one-off cuvee ($19/btl for 2013 Berserker's Cuvee and half-off shipping) that I sprung for sight unseen.

Yes, but it has been a while, David. Looks like a good one to try.

Patricia Green makes pretty good wines, especially at their price points. I think you have to make choices based on where she sources the grapes. Based on a rec of my wine guy who knows her and her wines well, I put away two mixed cases of the 2012s (missed her 2010s).

After April 15th. I will have cleared some major transactions by then and should be able to refocus my time to some of this.

You have done well in the month of April, my subjects, you have answered the call. I would like to continue to see your enthusiasm continue into the month of May, featuring the historic visit of BWE to France in celebration of our 15th anniversary. We intend to make the visit as public and interactive as possible, hopefully culminating in a "Lynch Bages - Pichon Baron Day" on Friday, May 22nd, in celebration of our visit to those two BWE icons.
