2008 Greysac

Had a glass with dinner in Manhattan last night.
Chunky, monolithic, vegetal, not real appealing, but quaffable with dinner.

My daugthers, Simone (2008) and Béatrice (2013) aren't lucky for Bordeaux vintages for their birthyear. But my son,Julien (2010), will be ok.

Hope that 2008 Château Lynch Bages, you gave me for Simone, will be better in 12 years, than that 08 Greaysac.

I am reluctant to buy older wines now, for a range of reasons, but did pick up an 03 Greysac today. I figure in a super hot year, and given their location, it ought to be ok.

Don't think I've tripped over their wines since the 1995, 1996 when they had some some serviceable, smooth offerings.

I bought the 2010 Greysac and am reluctant to drink it after reading it's reviews. Someone at the store must have tasted it prior to bringing it in, surely. . :?:

I'm sure in a good vintage they'll make a B grade effort. That is pretty good in objective reality, to me.

I generally only drink whites when by the glass is what's on offer. Most commercial oriented whites are hard to screw up. (The kind that would be served at an open bar event etc.)

I'm in the middle of a bottle of 2010 right now.
Last night I didn't get anything out of the first 1/4 bottle even after more than 2 hours of air.
Tonight was better. It's coming out as a decent old school claret that needs a lot more time in bottle.

Thanks for the update. I have a 2005 on the "drink soon" shelf.

I still think the estate is a lot better than so many US or South American wines that get served in the hospitality trade.
