My new rating system is: Wish I Had More (assuming I wished I had more of anything)/I Don't Care

Wish I Had More. Pulled this last night on theory 2003s should generally be drunk sooner than later. Probably had one of these some time ago but don't recall. Think it my last or only bottle. This was very pleasing. Reaches the entire palate(s), soft and hard. Flavor deepens from day 1 to day 2. Seems nicely balanced, recognizably Bdx in texture. Finishes warm and slightly astringent, probably a vintage hallmark but certainly not unpleasant. Probably will hold for 5-10 years more. Very enjoyable. Drunk tonight with pineapple-mango-salsed-browned/braised/roasted chicken thighs, potato pancakes, and Brussels sprouts.

Overall I view the 2003 left bank favorably. Sure it's different but it's good.

There, that was exhausting. Basically I liked the wine.

Drinking Listrac in Hawaii.
How exotic can you get?

The estate has since been bought by heirs of the Hermès fortune and is going from strength to strength.

What you had for dinner sounds even more attractive, I must say!

This is inspiring, reading your note was the opposite of exhausting.

I think my new rating system will be:
-Religious Experience
-Loved it
-Liked it
-Meh
-Disliked it
-Hated it

The vast majority of what I drink falls somewhere between Loved it-Meh.

In the Medoc, 2003 is a Like-to-Love it vintage for me.

2003 still going well for me. Not sure what other peoples tastes are but I have not experienced hot/over ripe/torrified over oaked wines like initially portrayed. Maybe I've been lucky but....

Have not had the pleasure of trying the Fourcas Hosten Harry but sounds like another 03 winner.

I've got about a half-dozen '03s but the only one I've tried is the Pontet Canet. I've had it several times and think it is not yet showing its best but I don't get any hot, overripe, torrified sense from it except some heat immediately after opening. I've been reading a fair number of TNs on various '03s that suggest a lot of the wines are turning out fine. I am holding a couple bottles of the 2003 Cos, which apparently was the poster child for the controversy, with two diametrically opposed camps on whether it was a hot mess or a great Cos.i wasn't planning on opening one for a few years yet.

Hmmm. Maybe that was a year where it got warm enough to ripen in that region.

I think that you might be on to something. Finally a ripe vintage....WOW! No green notes or drying astringent tannins...great.

An interesting update on this chateau which I have not tasted in forever.

I notice new releases have marched up the pricing ladder - $40 handles!

Fourcas Hosten has always made good wine, and there is no reason it shouldn't get better with millionaire owners.

What is the best wine of Listrac? It's either Clarke or Fourcas Hosten for me, perhaps followed by Mayne Lalande.

I recently bought a bottle of the white Fourcas Hosten in Bordeaux at a shop owned by the Momméja that also sells their caviar from Aquitaine, Neuvic.
