TN: 3 different wines

Post by Harry C. »

  • 1996 Bodegas Muga Rioja Torre Muga - Spain, La Rioja, La Rioja Alta, Rioja (4/20/2015)
Garnet. Nose was floral, red fruit, spices, hint leather. Taste was roasted meat-could be confused with certain Cote Rotie. Delish! (94 pts.)
  • 2013 Morlet Family Vineyards La Proportion Doree - USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast (4/20/2015)
Pale yellow. Nose of citrus, floral, clove. Taste was sharp like Sauvignon Blanc-even though 67% was Semillon. I liked but expected an'oilier' mouth feel. (92 pts.)
  • 1998 Domaine Raymond Usseglio & Fils Châteauneuf-du-Pape - France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape (4/20/2015)
medium garnet with orange rim. Very garrigue nose, medium in strength. Mouth was of a C9P getting to the end of its life. Good but drink up. (88 pts.)

I'm trying to remember is Torre Muga their new wave or old school big gun?

New wave. But there was nothing new wave about this wine. Age has mellowed the 'new'
