TN: 3 wines including 2000 Monbousquet

Post by Harry C. »

  • 2000 Château Monbousquet - France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru (5/2/2015)
Black garnet. Nose was decidedly New world, young, blackberries, plums, asian spices. Taste was also young, but no significant tannins on the end, mouth filling, went well with steak. (94 pts.)
  • 2009 Peter Michael Chardonnay Belle Côte - USA, California, Sonoma County, Knights Valley (5/2/2015)
Pale gold. Nose of clove, vanilla, mango. Taste was similar to the nose, touch oak. Went down too well. I'm beginning to like the 2009 from Peter M. (93 pts.)
  • 2012 F.X. Pichler Grüner Veltliner Smaragd Loibner Steinertal - Austria, Niederösterreich, Wachau (5/2/2015)
Pale yellow. Nose of flowers, orange, pineapple. Taste was mildly oily, similar taste, stood up to asparagus very well. Delish (93 pts.)
  • 2009 Peter Michael Chardonnay La Carrière - USA, California, Sonoma County, Knights Valley (4/24/2015)
Pale gold. Nose of minerals, spices, cinnamon. Taste was similar, smooth, never would I guess 15%! (93 pts.)

The 2000 Monbo was thrilling the one time I had it in 2007. Definitely new wave but lots of character and interest.
