2009 Château Serilhan

Post by Nicklasss »

Very good St-Estèphe. A 2009 that did not shut down at all. Dark red color, with a niçe nose If creamy blackcurrants, spices, darkberries, and something earthy. In Mouth, rich and smooth, merlot berry flavors, blackcurrants, Medium low acidity, superripe tannins. Still young. TN :89.

That sounds pretty good. I'm drinking a 96 Lafon Rochet right now. I took the time to double decant and lightly chill it. It's freaking fabulous.

I think the reason why I like St Estephe so much is the heavy merlot most estates tend to include in the cepage.

Never had a Serilhan, but from these peak vintages always worth a shot.

2009 is like shooting fish in a barrel. Haven't had a bad wine yet. Nice to see when there is a great growing year and everyone across the board seems to have done well.

Serilhan have not seen before but sounds great.

You're right AKR, The 1996 Chateau Lafon Rochet has always been a super wine in the past. Don't have any left but I guess it would be amazing now.

The problem with the 2009, keep your hands off! This 2009 Cru Borgeois was a real joy to drink, and like you wrote Arv, the intense merlot berries taste, mix of the grape and the St-Estèphe terroir, is just incredibly seductive in vintages like 2009...

Sérilhan is getting better every vintage. Earlier vintages weren't that good imho. Think I had the 2003, 2005 and another one.

The 1996 Lafon Rochet is outstanding, sadly mine are long gone.

Nice to hear Serilhan is drinking well. I think I got some...

My inventory says I have a bottle of 96 Lafon Rochet. Need to dig it up. I also have 2 bottles of 95 lafon Rochet that I recently got in an auction...

I recall Serilhan got some major reviews on release. Sorry, scratch that, was thinking C. Senejac.
