Tasted this blind yesterday at our Friday group

I guessed mid to later 90's left bank bordeaux....the only paradox was the slightly riper fruit, but it leaned so much bordeaux that I had to chose that. I told the group my choice but stated that "their is only one wine that I know from the new world that could duplicate this (Havens)"...my friend then stated that indeed this was a California Napa bordeaux blend...I said "must be Havens" and guessed 1997....the reveal was the '99 Havens Bourriquot a wine that is dominant cab franc with Merlot, this is their homage to Cheval Blanc....killer stuff bought for around $22 at release

Oh Havens how I miss thee. I was fortunate to have sold this brand and tasted at the winery twice.

One of my favorite Napa wines which did remind me of Cheval Blanc. I have one 2003 left.

I would give this a spin but don't see it available anywhere around here.

Yup. Havens was quite good back in the day. Fond memories of the 97 and 01 Borriquot. Like a $30 Figeac (some say Cheval Blanc too, but I've had those rarely so don't hardly know them).

I'd wondered what happened to them.

Flora Springs makes a wine called 'Trilogy' which could be snuck into Bordeaux tasting. But its not really a value, imho.

I thought you guys said those Chinon wines were Bordeaux like.
I had a delish 2011 Isosocles (sp) Cali cab the other night.
