What are your top 3 vintages since 2000?
My favorite Bordeaux vintage of the new millenium is (appropriately enough) the millenial vintage, 2000. I could probably even go so far as to state that this is BWE's favorite Bordeaux post-1999 vintage without too much risk. Beyond that, I haven't a clue, so this thread is to ask: what are your top 3 vintages (ranked ) since 2000?
Here are mine:
2005
2004

Lilian-Ladouys 2003, Hound?
I haven't had enough 2001 Right Bank to get a bead on the Merlot in that vintage.

Patrick, right bank 01s are very good. In fact, these are the only Bdx from this millennium that I drink on a regular basis. Some right bank 2000s are beginning to come around. All the other post 1999 Bdx are hard for me to judge and appreciate even if I have on occasion enjoyed a few others.

Re: What are your top 3 vintages since 2000?
I would have to agree with Stefan and Jim in that I loved a couple of right bank 2001s and had them numerous times and also had some stellar left bank 2002s. There were a couple of excellent '04s that I enjoyed, like du Tertre and La Lagune, but beyond that, I couldn't even venture to name a third vintage that comes within a mile of the enjoyment that I got out of the 2000s. It's interesting that the character of the five vintages in question are all so different. All viable, too. Hey - anyone want to rate the vintages in order, all five of them? It's not that easy...

FWIW, here are Parker's favorite vintages from 2000-2008 (I just averaged the scores in his vintage chart):
Left Bank Right Bank Northern Medoc
2005 96 2005 97 2005 95
2008 91 2008 94 2003 95
2003 90 2001 90 2008 91
2001 88 2006 89 2004 88
2004 88 2004 88 2002 88
2002 88 2003 87 2001 88
2006 87 2007 86 2006 87
2007 86 2002 86 2007 86
Overall, 2005 is the winner on the Left and Right Banks, with 2000 a hair behind.

Re: What are your top 3 vintages since 2000?
Definitely 2005. I liked 2004 (St. Emilion, Pomerol) a lot too. And if the current craze is anything to go by, then 2008 will complete the top-3...
Re: What are your top 3 vintages since 2000?
Left-bank (I don't drink enough right-bank to comment):
05
04
01 tied with 02 [01 left-bankers are very, very good]
I expect 06 left-bankers to be the best after 05s when they're bottled, or at least as good as the lovely 04s.
For me the best 04s combine the best qualities of the 01s (succulence and subtle length) and the 02s (grip, attack and classical structure). But some 02s (eg Poyferre, THB) and some 01's (eg Montrose, Barton) outclass for me their respective 04s. More often (eg Durfort, Lagrange etc) 04s seem to have the edge.
I have a sneaking suspicion that in many years I might actually prefer 01s, 02s and 04s to the larger than life 05s!

Re: What are your top 3 vintages since 2000?
Not to sound like Alex, but aren't we really talking about picking the top three out of the last five released vintages? And so this is Bordeaux between zero and four years after release??? I was under the impression that these wines needed some age before anyone could judge the quality...
For the record, I own some of each vintage (how much Bordeaux can any one cellar hold?) but I'm not drinking any yet. I thought the newly-released 2005's from less-heralded estates were the best I've ever tasted (other vintages where I thought less expensive wines were great were 1982 and 1990 which is not bad company), so I'd put '05 at the top of the heap. After that, time will tell.![Uber Geek :ugeek:](./images/smilies/icon_e_ugeek.gif)

Re: What are your top 3 vintages since 2000?
I thought this was asking for repondents' three favorite vintages since 2000. I try never to express an opinion about quality, because I know nothing about that.
Re: What are your top 3 vintages since 2000?
This is just for fun of course. I've been surprised how well many 2004s seem to be drinking right now.
Re: What are your top 3 vintages since 2000?
Can I vote even though I bought no '01s or '02s? If so, for the actual wines I purchased:
2005
2004
2003
The list would likely be different if I had purchased different wines.

Re: What are your top 3 vintages since 2000?
This is a tough question beyond 2005. 05 is one of the best vintages I've had, and THE best red Burg vintage I've ever tried (and I'm in my 50's).
So for the left bank, 2005, 2004 and 2001 in that order BUT there are some glorious 03s.
I can't rate 03 highly overall as the less than good wines were often disasters. Like burnt vegetables.
2002 is good but I'd rate it slightly behind 01.
For the right bank, I think 02 was less good than the Medoc - irrespective of what Parker thinks, and 03 in the right bank was overall less good than the Medoc -the Merlot was more often scorched and some times burnt and green at the same time. So far, I'd rate 01 ahead of 04, thus 05, 01, 04, 03 and 02 in that order.
