Anyone tried Troplong 1990 recently and care to share the experience?

(Unhelpfully) I can say the 89 was fabulous a number of years ago.

Thanks. We decided to go for it. It's open ... I'll post a note tomorrow. First whiff seems ok.

Popped and poured. From the first whiff I knew I was in for a treat. Light red to garnet core and garnet rim. Mature, dark ripe fruits, fresh and cool, with a dusting of black pepper. Lush, satiny, creamy mouthfeel, blackberry fruits, cassis, milk chocolate, kirsch, liqueur and cocoa, evidence of fine tannins and a good backbone, long finish. This is a fine bottle and in the words of Terry Theise, this wine has the ‘deliciousness’ factor that warrants the 97 pointer from me.

Hi Mek.

That wine seems delicious, complex and a treat from your report. I bought a single bottle of the 1989 in the past, but when I opened it, was badly corked :-(.

I enjoyed a few bottles of the 1998, but no Troplong left any more in my reserve.

I bought 3 375s of the 1990 Troplong Mondot 20 years ago, and had the last one within the last year.
The first 2 ranked among my all-time favorite Bordeaux, and the last one, while not quite as spectacular, was excellent as well.
As I said to my wife when I opened the first one, it was the kind of wine that was a thrill to drink, and was a great example of why I collect Bordeaux.

Wow, it sounds spectacular.
I drank a 90 Gazin once that was one of my favorite wines ever.

I had the 90 Troplong Mondot last year, and you described it well. Fantastic wine.
