2010 Talbot

Post by AlohaArtakaHoundsong »

Had this the other night and as usual I'm at a loss for deep descriptors but this wine seemed very nice and very 2010. The 10s seem to have a lot of frame, in a good way, and a lot of length, also good, but without any sense of ponderousness or over-anythingness. This wine was a little bit more concentrated and grapey than the Cantemerle but there's a lot of resemblance and vintageship between them. The Talbot also seemed very well integrated at this time, that is there is nothing sticking out like newly sawn oak or anything. Nice balance, good fruit, good acidity.

I also take note of and approve of the label. Labels are important. This one is simple, declarative and very classy without seeming to try to hard to be simple, declarative and classy, or very clean and spare like seems the trend nowadays.

Granted I did not detect any impurities but that box is defaulted to negative. Neither could I say I was rendered stunned by its purity though.

Heading to Hilo for a few days tomorrow. Aloha!
