Wonderful fair.
Takes place every other year.
I could only spend 2 days, but the highlights were a tasting of the 2014s with Philippe Dhalluin, managing director of the Philippe de Rothschild estates. He suprised me by asking me if I'd like to stay to lunch, which was wonderful and ended with 1999 Mouton (ready to drink would be a euphemism, by the way).
I was also invited to lunch at Cheval Blanc, which doesn't happen every day.
I do love Bordeaux, and I think those of you who went on the tour less than a month ago can understand why...
All the best,
Alex

Re: Vinexpo
Awesome. Doesn't Italy have something comparable?
Re: Vinexpo
Vinitaly is more focused on Italian wines.
I've never been, but would love to go.
Vinexpo features wines from around the world.
The biggest international trade fair is Prowein in Düsseldorf.
It is even bigger than Vinexpo and it is said that it's less PR and marketing and more sales.
So, Vinexpo is reaching out and trying new ways of doing things to compete.

Re: Vinexpo
Alex like Jose Mourinho (Chelsea soccer manager) you are the 'special one' and you fully deserve it - not just for your contribution to a tour of a lifetime -you clearly have a lot of respect and kudos among the Bordeaux establishment.
We are setting up a Chateau Palmer vertical here in November. I emailed Thomas Duroux to invite him along and he politely declined. Because he was travelling. Ah well it was worth a try.
Tell us more about the Mouton 99 and Cheval Blanc.

Perhaps he is exhausted with tasting his own wares!
