2001 Sociando Mallet
PnP. Glorious bouquet right out of the gates with cedar and an intense note of smoky, roasted poblano. Some call this note "green", I call it great. The palate is resolved and getting silky with lovely cassis and a pleasant leafiness. A little lighter bodied than I might prefer, there's still plenty of verve from acids and a nice lingering finish. I'm often dubious of tasting notes that say a Bordeaux is "at peak" for wines less than 15 or even 20 years old, but this puppy might be there. I'd wager a long plateau though for this old-school classic. 92 pts.

SM is just glorious stuff
