In this time of troubled Franco-American relations (NSA eavesdropping on President Holland's cell phone and spying on French corporations), it is heartening to see that the Hermione has made it to America.

I don't know if the progress of this ship is making up the eastern seaboard from Virginia has received much media coverage in the US.

It took years to build the Hermione, and a lot of the money for the project came from America. The fund-raising committee is chaired by Robert Wilmers, owner of Ch. Haut-Bailly.

Anyway, to fund this enterprise, a couple from Florida bid 150,000 dollars to buy one bottle of each wine from the 1855 classification (88 bottles).

They have just come to visit Bordeaux, where they were received with open arms.
