When Donald Trump is elected president in 2016….

You know me, I'm a maverick Democrat, a liberal left of Bernie Sanders on social issues, a conservative right of Ted Cruz on fiscal issues.
When I was mayor I supported gay rights and head start, but I had to become Chris Christie when it meant taking on the unions (not easy, a former Teamster and textile union man myself).

I have to say this is shaping up as one of the most interesting presidential campaigns ever.
If we can just get the gal from Alaska into the race it would be epic.

I will say this…
I'm seeing that Big Don Trump has now jumped ahead in two major polls.
Hell would freeze over, I would eat nails, heck, I would even drink a .750 of 2007 Lynch Bages (the horror) before voting for The Donald.
His rhetoric is despicable.
But I will say this, I can see why he is resonating with a certain segment… He's saying what he feels!
What he feels is wrong, but at least it's real!

Likewise, on the left, that's why Bernie is resonating.
Hillary seems old, tired, and, worse, used up.

Go Bernie Go!

Bernie's views are OK, but he has essentially no accomplishments. Like Obama when he ran, but less charismatic.

I'd vote for The Donald's hair before I would vote for the man himself.

I listened to him on youtube the other night on an old Howard Stern program. He's pretty witty. But he's also pretty vile. The Republicans have gotta be shitting bricks at least a little bit over his sudden rise.

It's too early to worry, but I guess that worrying from day one is in the pol's job description.

Trump would be far from the stupidest President we've had (not that he has even a remote chance), but it takes a lot more than smarts to be a good President.

He's a total blowhard but he has a charm that will appeal to a certain gullible segment of the population.
The true nightmare for the Republicans will be if he pulls a Ross Perot.
He's hard to bully in interviews, he made Anderson Cooper look like an amateur yesterday.

Remember when Herman Cain had a big (though spectacularly short lived) lead in the Republican primary polls just about at this point in the last nomination contest?

Who?

Yes, vaguely...

Which is really your point, isn't it?

I saw a quote from Trump, copied verbatim :

"I don't think my daughter Ivanka would pose for Playboy, although she does have a very nice figure. I've said that if Ivanka weren't my daughter perhaps I would dating her."

If that is what he really said and this is not a misquote, in my opinion this rules him out as a serious contender.

Exactly...

I still like that joke from correspondents' dinner 4 years ago (with Trump in the audience): "I hear Donald Trump is running as a Republican. That's funny, cause I thought he was running as a joke".
