K&L has the 2014 Laroque [Margaux] for $14. It's a small family owned estate that is NOT the St Emilion with the same name. I'd be cautious about reviews pumping it, since they are probably from the other estate. But that's objectively a low price for a Margaux AOC wine, and K&L is generally competent with their direct imports.

They also have the 2012 Prunotto [Barolo] for $26. I realize its only the normale, and the estate is not what it once was, having been crassly commercialized, but for a long time Prunotto was my safe & sane pick off Italian wine lists when I had expense account type dinners.

This may not be germane to most of you....but if you are in the Western US and have Raleys/BelAir/NobHill around you, check the wine section. Some examples of items on sale, assuming you buy a mixed six of anything, with pre tax prices. :

They don't ship and not all stores carry the full lineup. We're lucky and live a few houses away from the chain's CEO, and his wife requires our store, which is only a 5 min walk, to have the full wine steward treatment. It's bizarrely good selection for a grocery store. I thought that was normal for the chain until I visited other ones.

* this is a machine harvested Pomerol, that critics throw rocks at in recent years. my belief is that in the best/ripest years, they can be ok.

Ben at CellarRaiders has some 1975 Gazin [Pomerol] for $75

That was a strong vintage in the AOC, as some might recall from the large format 75 l'Eglise Clinet that M-P shared with us at the big BWE festival in the spring.

At one point last Christmas they tried a cases only offering on that 08 Rieussec for $360 per, but clearly that didn't work since they are still trying to move it.

GVWM is running their cases of 08 Rieussec in full bottles for $33 per again.

They have lots, strangely enough

89 Plince [Pomerol] $40

They have freshly arrived teen age BDX, many estates that I do not recognize. Most of that seems priced on the full offer side, especially for non glamour/rated names.

They continue to have good supplies of the 07 Coutet and 14 Coutet at $35 and $40 respectively.

Seem like reasonable prices.

Nenin is a leaner, long lived Pomerol now under the Deleon era.

Also I noticed TCWC has a six pack of 03 Meyney [St Estephe] for $30 per. This is from an era when they were underwhelming. I remember having a bottle on release, without it making an impression at the time. But perhaps time has helped it as most other 2003 St Estephe's have done well. NM tasted the 2003 blind in 2011 and gave it an ok 89 rating; RMP in that era for a number of years declined to comment on barrel samples.

The Grapes Wine Co. sent out an email this morning on 2014 Margaux.

They have Giscours for $40 and Rauzan Segla for $56

Probably reasonable levels for those. Maybe if one has a Total Wine in the area and can navigate coupon complexity one could get them at the same price or a tick lower.

I've never dealt with The Grapes, and there seem to be mixed reviews on dealing with them, so I'll leave that concern for those who can comment directly.

Grapes is Daniel Posner's outfit in White Plains. I visited the store countless times when I lived in the area, and I still order from them on a consistent basis. I find them very reliable. Probably my go to store for shipping to Florida.

In Danbury CT iirc. I went up there to pick some stuff up from his house back in 2010, long time ago.

I always read his list and salivate especially at some of the rare stuff he has from places like Cornas, which you can't find for love nor money anymore over here.

Yeah I haven't seen Ben since I dumped my onesies and twosies of Lafite back in 2012 and subsequently traded down for cases of things I wouldn't have otherwise been able to afford at the time. But according to the below WSJ article which used to not be hidden behind a paywall, he now also has a storefront in Brewster NY.

I too would rather gather up 2015 Cornas and Cote Rotie.

K&L has the 2012 Lespault Martillac [Pessac Leognan] rouge for $16 on closeout.

It's the new venture from Domaine De Chevalier and has good ratings from all the usual suspects.

Never tried it but ordered a 2015 ep at one point.

They have a lot and it seems like a good deal.

Prices of the 2012 and 2014's are much lower than 2015 and 2016, broadly speaking.

Also Benchmark has a case of the 2006 Malartic Lagraviere rouge, $30 each. Solid ratings for but a drinkers vintage.

Provenance with that vendor is much more exacting and careful, so normally they demand a premium.

I've not seen any of those in my local one though, which has been slim pickings all summer.

I don't think I've had the estate ever, but Pauillac AOC wine generally can't be had for less than $30 - $40.

Basically a cru bourgoise price.

I wonder why that terroir hasn't been bought up by the great growths and blended into more valuable output.

That's nearly half the price I paid for 3 bottles of the 2010 on sale at Total Wine last October.
I really liked the one bottle I opened.

Well, 2010 is likely to always carry a (warranted) premium to 'drinkers' vintages, so that's probably fair enough.

Pauillac is a high rent district, the Park Place and Broadway of the Bordeaux Monopoly board.

Pretty sharp price for that, but again these are 'drinker' kinds of estates/vintages.

Winex inventory/availability tends to change quickly.

75 Magdelaine [St Emilion] en magnum $262 they have a case, suggesting that storage was likely better than average during its life.

It seems like every few weeks some half decent 2012 or 2014 is selected and sent to the bargain bin.

That le Thil seems like an ok deal if one needed more of that kind of wine: modern, regular good stuff

Also I think B21 has 3 cases of the 2009 de Myrat [Sauternes] in regular format for $30 which is an ok price, especially considering their low cost / free shipping proposition.

2012 Gazin Rocquencourt rouge [Pessac Leognan] for $18 91RP and generally hard to find, previously MacArthurs was only importer of this
2006 l'Arrosee [St Emilion] $29 this estate has been absorbed into Quintus, and like Magdelaine, its delicate AFWE style struggled to find US fans, or at least those willing to pay $100+

I already have the l'Arrosee, but might get some of the Graves since that's objectively low, and I've never tasted anything from them, having missed the 2010 that Mac's had at one point.

HDH has cut prices on some stock they brought in ex chateau

The latter has apparently been rebooted by Alan Vauthier. Once upon a time it was a vile, watery St Em known mostly for their late releases -- I remember being afflicted by a friend with some 80's examples during the 90's -- so presumably if HDH is bringing this in, Simard must have really altered whatever their processes. I was actually stunned to see the name on a list of a fine wine merchant; my recollection was this was liquor store / paccy 'bdx'.

HDH has lots of both.

Lots of other stuff on sale, with sharp prices on 2015 Cornas in particular.
