Costco #422 in South SF has

2014 Giscours [Margaux] $40

That's generally a low price for this, although lots of vendors have been offering near there in the last year.

The true, fully loaded cost in purchasing this comes from the insanity of their parking lot....

Millesima has a nice Thanksgiving sale, but purchases by the case....20% off on order of any two cases

Most interesting to me was the 2010 Cantemerle at $39.20/btl if buying two cases
2010 Montrose around $224/btl on 12 (those are cases of 6), which seemed like strong pricing as well

Winex is running a CyBordeaux Monday sale, all kinds of stuff on sale, but these seemed ok

2014 Clinet $57, knock another 10% off if you buy 12
2004 Barde Haut $27, same deal as above.

Good price on the 2010 Cantemerle mentioned on the prior post!

Spectrum wine retail site has 13 bottles of the 2012 Pegau Reservee CNDP available for $44 a bottle. If you want to go to the current auction and get a whole case, then you can snag a case at $40 a bottle including the auction premium.

I was reminded at Thanksgiving how good and how much of a crowd please Pegau is. There's always the risk of too much brett but if you don't get that it's incredibly dependable and good. $40 is a fine price for a wine of that quality. 2012 is a solid year.

Kids birthday party in the exurbs so I checked out a tonier Costco than normal

#765 in Folsom, CA

15 Carmes de Rieussec 375ml [Sauternes] $13
14 Ferriere [Margaux] $30
14 Giscours [Margaux] $40

I picked up single of the Rieussec and filled up the wife's SUV gas tank.

=======

That Pegau mentioned up thread sounds like a good deal. I love the stuff, but I'm not sure I'd lump it into the crowd pleasing category. There can be sneaker smells at times. It sounds like now that RMP isn't around to chat up the name, its price is normalizing.

K&L has some new price cuts this morn, these are off memory

2005 Climens $73
2014 Beausejour Duffau $66
2010 Joanin Becot Cotes de Castillon $16

that last one is vaguely related to Beau Sejour Becot

@ K&L last night-2014 Domaine de Chavalier-Pessac $49.95

Just an update on K&L's new shipping procedure to "affected" states-I had about 3 cases that fell into the new procedure about a month ago. They use some freight forwarder that gets the wine from K&L, ships to a central location, then UPS completes the delivery. I had the wine in about 5 days instead of 3. Bottles were perfect. For some reason the boxes went through Texas (between SF and Denver)-so be careful on when you ship-I'm guessing the shipping window is small with them now.

I'd offer to let you ship to my UPS box in Nashua NH but when I went to K&L's website I see that they charge the ridiculous 8% NH liquor tax on top of $35 ground shipping for a case. It makes it not worth the effort. So much for the "tax free" state. I'd look into Wine Exchange, they have it at the same price and looks like they'll ship to Maine.

Winex is having a one day rebate/gift card offer.

Spend $200 on wine with them on 1/1/18, and they'll send a $25 gift card within two days.

They don't have sales that often, maybe 5 times a year, for a day or a weekend.

This doesn't seem as compelling as their Christmas day offer which was an easier to deal with 10% straight off everything, with a code.

However they do have a differentiated, and good spectrum, of Bdx and Rhones.

For those who get orders shipped from them, its important to check the box right away to make sure everything is in good order. Don't put them in storage/offsite/cellar without inspection.

Zachys just kicked off a Brunello sale that is largely weighted towards 2012’s as they likely need to make room for the incoming 2013’s ... happy shopping.

I might have also pointed out the case plus of 2004 Leoville Barton for $79/per, granted I paid less for magnums 10 years ago but not to shabby of a price in today’s times.

With the two nice Chambolle I had during the holidays (2011 Taupenot-Merme 1er Cru Combe d'Orveau and 2012 Hudelot-Noellat village), i will source some more Chambolle in the coming weeks.

Started this afternoon as I found a lonely bottle of the same 2011 Taupenot-Merme Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Combe d'Orveau, a marvellous wine.

I have a hard to understand love ❤️ for Chambolle.

JJBuckley just emailed out a deal on the 2010 Langoa Barton which is now On Sale for $66.94/per (JJB Reg: $79.94 / Online Avg. $90) which seemed pretty enticing until I winesearchered it and saw that K&L has it for $59.99 ... if you have a Private Client rep you may want to reach out and see if they can’t match the lower price and while they may refuse, it never hurts to ask!

All at Chambers St Wines in NYC

Good prices on those Calon Segurs I think.

Rieussec 1988 Sauternes

As they say: “A sweetie for your Sweetie”. When Sauternes of this quality ages, it gains a lot of complexity of aroma and flavor. The 1988 is now in – sorry! – a sweet spot for drinking, with mouth-watering aromas of stone fruist and nuts; it’s quite rich on the palate but there is enough tart acidity to make the wine taste fresh. A classic French pairing is to serve this with foie gras, liver pate, or blue cheese, but we have also loved Sauternes with fruit desserts and with custard/pudding.

For just a couple of days K&L had full bottles of 2014 Climens for $50. They've hiked it back today to $60, which is still a fair price. But who knows, maybe they'll change the price again. I've noticed more dynamic pricing from them in the last year. I think they are trying to build their own demand curves and/or get people to pay attention to their emails. If one knew that either supply was limited, or the price was not stable, it might get some people to pull the checkout trigger on their cart.

Zachys is currently running a PACK SALE where you can save 25% on the 80 or so wines listed. The one wine that caught my eye was the 2014 Domaine de Chevalier at $59.99/per which after discount would ring up at $44.99/per or the cheapest price in the country.

K&L is offering 14 Poujeaux for $22 and the 14 du Tertre for $29.

Seemingly large supplies of both.

I think they pick only a few 2012's and 2014's each month to price chop, rather than putting them all on sale at once.

Wow, they raised the price on that Poujeaux AND the du Tertre over the space of a couple of hours.

They did the same thing two weeks ago with the 2014 Climens.

Maybe they are trying to get people to react to the email right away.

Or they measure web traffic to the SKU and if it gets to a certain number, the price gets boosted.

This is that dynamic pricing I've been mentioning before.

My feeling on that is that there are plenty of auction houses and flash sale sites so people who want variable pricing can get it there.

I don't think its too much to expect retailers to stand up for offers they make via outgoing emails in the morning, and honor the price in the afternoon, but I guess I'm old fashioned!
