A Médoc from 2010

Post by Nicklasss »

Château du Courneau, bought in Ontario for less than 16$... But this is very good.mLight nose of red berries, blackberries, and light spices. Mouth is medium power, not the most tasteful, but good core of blackberries, aromatique herbes, leather and more cherries and meat. Ripe, medium tannins, low acidity, very good, for that low price. Tn:86.

Nic

P.S. Last night with some friends, thev2012 Ridge Vineyards Merlot was taste, with niçe oak,concentrated fruit.

I've drunk hundreds of bottles of Ridge wines and did not know that Draper makes a merlot.

It seems like Ridge has a whole bunch of vineyards/bottlings that go in/out of production.

Sometimes I see older ones for sale, bottlings that I do not recognize at all.

And I too did not know they made a varietal merlot.

====

I was reading about Jean Luc Colombo over the weekend, and apparently his favorite non French winemaker, is Paul Draper.

His favorite French one is his soulmate - Michel Rolland.

Ridge does have quite a variety of bottlings. Some are not produced every year, and some are only offered through their advanced tasting program (ATP) - or I think that's what ATP stands for.

There were just several different vintages of Ridge York Creek Cabernet Franc on Winebid!: http://www.winebid.com/BuyWine/Item/5152767

That was one I'd not seen before, even as an ATP bottling.
