This is like a 12 round prize fight - exhausting! Throw the old pollster playbook out the window and then burn it, because we are in a new era of politics, friends. Never ever would I have thought we would be talking about the race being at this juncture with so much in play in areas I would have least expected. I guess the sun still rises tomorrow, but I'm a bit less excited about the near future....

They're doing the autopsy right now before calling the deciding states. This is like working over a body that arrives to the ER with no vital signs for 40 minutes. Just waiting for someone to turn off the EKG.

As a silent observer, this thread has been awesome, highly entertaining, and classy (considering where political discussions unfortunately end up most of the time), so kudos to you Jim. This is pure Brexit 2.0 but on a far grander scale. At least we have wine...

PA is still in play, only 25% of Pittsburgh is in.
And MI is winnable.
It's fucking Wisconsin that killed us.
I'm surprised we haven't heard any rumblings from the Trump camp urging her to concede.

I don't know the answer, Hound.
The country is REALLY pissed off.
They really did a number on her.
But she was a weak candidate.
But I don't think it would have mattered.
He struck a nerve with a lot of really pissed people.

The contrafactuals are interesting. Would a different Dem have beaten Trump? Would a different Rep have cakewalked over Clinton? Or did it take a complete wildcard like Trump to get it to this point?

It's bizarre that we haven't heard from representatives of either campaign.
While I can see a miracle in MI, PA, and NH, Wisconsin seems out of reach.

Call the cabinet.

I haven't a clue. Does he pick from the well-known names he ridiculed throughout? Does he reach into his list of undisclosed "smartest people" who he's been advising on their claimed specialities for the last year?

Let's see if there is a Fed in February. Looks like a buying opportunity.

I thought it would be close, but I'm stunned to see Trump win. And with an R House and Senate, the Supreme Court appts...

I really fear where we are headed. And when Trump doesn't deliver jobs and prosperity, how will the ticked off electorate that voted him in react?

Screw the "divisions"in the electorate. One party controls the executive and both legislative chambers and also the Supremes. Could be a frenzy.

If Wikipedia is correct, one party has controlled the White house and both chambers of Congress for 51 of the last 100 years.

Your point, Tom? Mine was to refute the assertion of one of the talking heads that Trump needs to deal with a divided electorate.

A little testy, Hound? Sorry if I offended or seemed like I was challenging anything. Didn't see where the assertion of one of the TH's was mentioned, so didn't understand your point. I now take notice of the quotes in your in your comment, but quotes don't seem to be literal very often on the interwebs.

Testy, I'll cop. You certainly know how to quote one sentence out of a three sentence post. Do you have a point? Is it related to the need of a united government to respect a divided electorate?
