2006 de Fieuzal, Pessac-Leognan

1st night: Fairly tight at first, with a textbook gravelly nose, some firm tannins make their presence known. After about an hour this opens up nicely, some sweet secondary fruit balances things out. 3rd night: this has settled down easy and not lost a step, bottle sweetness is there in spades. Lacking a little complexity, but who cares? Very enjoyable even on its own. 89 pts

I've had more than a few disappointments with this estate: lily-livered reds and poxed whites.

However recent vintages are looking up.

The white, when it's in fine fettle, is very good.
