1989 Cantemerle
Sweet, resolved, red zinger, cranberry and bing cherry bouquet. Quite bright acidity, savory with some leather, maybe a hint of roast... lovely smooth texture, good tangy finish with a lingering loamy note. Has a bit more mid-palate stuffing than usual for the house. This is delicious, mature, semi-complex with just enough fruit to hang with the bumptious acidity. 93 pts

You're right Blanquito, this is one of the excellent or best Cantemerle. I loved the two bottles i had in the last few years.

Don't know if the 2010 will get there, but it is making me thinking it could...

'89 Cantemerle was excellent ten years ago. It sounds like it has not lost anything since. That surprises me.

Second half of the bottle is even better.

I bet the fruit was better 10 years earlier, but this is in a great place still.

And don't forget the 2005 Cantemerle, BWE Wine of the year.
