Post by Jay Winton »

a switch from their usual blend. Was this vintage tasted at the BWE tour of this producer? Could it be Left Coast Lagune???

I think a minority thought that 2013 LL 100% cab was interesting/drinkable. I was not one of them. I don't have 30+years to take a flyer on a wine that may never come around and I don't think this one will. Unripe cab/tannins not for me.The consensus across Bordeaux amongst growers that 2013 was a horrible growing year wet and cold during spring to mid summer.Merlot on left bank almost non existent and that's why LL is pure Cab Sauv. Amazing how some will spin the vintage but the few we tasted were only for discussion and not for buying(at least by me).Nothing was even close to drinkable for me but some may feel differently. Even if the prices are way down I will not be showing any interest on this one or anything from 2013.

If I ever find it for under $25 I'll buy 3-4 bottles. I actually kind of liked it.

I'm with Danny on this one. I did not liked any 2013.

And the 2013 Chateaux La Lagune, with 100 % cab sauvignon, was hard and unripe. The perfect wine for a T-Rex, to match with a triceratop meal!

I did not like it, although in time it might be OK. It will never be a La Lagune.

I posted this as the Decanter liked it; however I put my faith in the BWE braintrust.

Jay

I think that you are wise to trust the people that you know. Can't believe some of the vintage reports touting 2013 as another GREAT vintage. Don't know who Tim Atkin is but his palate can't parallel mine.

Thanks, Danny. Ron Washam, whoever he is, tells it like it is in a very funny way.

"We have only greater vintages. 2013, for example, is even greater than 1984, which was greater than 1977, which was, remarkably, greater than 1942 "

What?

Took a minute.

Satire....................

They were all greater than 1956, birth year of Tom and me. Next to that (us?), anything can look great!

I don't think 1958 is much better.
I once had a chance to buy a mag of 1958 Mouton, with the Salvadore Dali label, for $300… and I passed.
What an idiot.

I haven't even seen a 57 given the crappy year but Danielle's 59s that we've had over the years have been outstanding. If we were playing baseball .250 batting average not so bad amongst us David and Jim!!

1974 is a great vintage like 2013. I can't afford the great 74 Bordeaux, but it ease the pain that I'm still able to have sex without help of pills...

stefanJr was also born in 1974, Nic, but agrees to have wines from Irena's birth year, which is 1975. I was born in Dec of 1944, which is close enough to 1945 that I'll settle for 1944. You must be a bit flexible.

Gosh, 1971 doesn't sound so bad in this thread! Indeed, I've been eye-balling the 1971 Climens that Winona Chief generous gifted to me.
