It has way too much fruit and structure for a cab franc! :D

I love that bottle too.

I agree...my first bottle def. Yes....this bottle was not bringing much in the way of fruit or ripeness.....rather more of classic cab franc profile, ash tray and freshly cut green tobacco leaf...wonderful

We had the 2003 last night and it was just FABULOUS

It reminded me of the 1990.

Sublime.

When they get a good Northern Medoc vintage, these guys are so awesome.

Although its only a theoretical question now, for drinking today I'd probably prefer this to the long drunk up 1990s.

I got some scoffs on Berserkers a few years back when I commented that I thought the 03 Sociando would eventually be the equal of the great 90 Sociando... my spreadsheet indicates I still have 23 bottles of this wine. Time to tuck in.

Good to hear. I thought this wine was promising in youth with the only question being, as with some 2003s, how's the acidity.

It is so far north that it was 10 degrees cooler than St-Estephe

Anyone has the 1996 lately?

From what I can recall...the acidity was fine...I would have never guessed 2003 if tasted blind ...the fruit is ripe but not jammy or roasted by any means,...sprinkle in that Sociando rusticity on top and viola!!

I thought the acidity 'felt' lower than the 2001 and 1996 which I've had recently too, but its not flabby or anything, like the 2003 right banks (generalizing).

Really thought it was a total solid A wine.

As many of us have said many times: With the exception of GPL, 2003L is just fine.
